New Valley screen with live match feed and goal replays

They should call it 'The Pie-zyzek', to try and jazz it up a bit and distract folks from the crapness of the dealse9addick said:
It is legitimately the worst value value deal on the market !Hovi's Biscuit said:It seems a very expensive way of trying to persuade people to buy a pie and pint meal deal.
Is the cost of the screen a contributory factor as to why the meal deal only actually saves about 10p?1 -

You have clearly never been in the ground early enough to see it in action. Yes, really.HarryLime said:“With the TriCaster system we can mix graphics and footage from cameras in the ground in an engaging way. An example of this is our Pie-Cam feature, where the camera focuses on one member of the crowd, who wins a box of pies. That has provided an interaction with the fans which was previously not possible, whilst giving the brand better coverage than a still image on the screen,” Steve explained.

First time I'd seen it on Sunday as not been to The Valley for 14 months (and not going again unless Duchatelet sells).
What the HELL is the point of it showing the game you're watching - absolutely ridiculous.
Plus ALL the screens on concourse showing West Ham v Man U!0 -
Brilliant yet again Stig and absolutely spot on. Personally I would have added the missing words "you bastards" at the end of the Police announcement just to reinforce the intention.Stig said:5 -
If we HAVE to show a live feed of the game (30 feet away), at least display the team on a scrolling ticker across the bottom.
Guess what Tony you little dweeb - while people wait for the player they are looking up to scroll across, they'll see a few adverts too.4 -
'dweeb'

Could have live pie futures prices on screen.
We could then ponder whether to go short on Dec mince and onion or long on Sep Chicken. There could be a run on pasties due to a pastry shortage and we could hedge our bets at half time.

I have been in correspondence with the club since the beginning of the season to no effect until I contacted Mel a few weeks ago. On Tuesday evening I tried the new fans email and lo and behold got this reply today...
'This has moved on since you were last in contact with the club. The good news is that there are plans in place to revert to showing team sheets, substitutions, cautions, etc, as opposed to the live feed.
It is the case that a different software system is required as we have had to purchase it. We now have this and we are hoping to have this in place before the end of the season and make this a permanent feature next season instead of the live match feed.
Best regards

This thread being bumped up reminded me: the screen at Hillsborough was almost exactly what ours should be. It showed team sheets, cards, goals, and ads for most of the match. Then, if there was a chance, it showed a replay at the next break in play.
I say 'almost' because it had a problem with long names, possibly a maximum width, which made them look very squashed. I guess that's another reason why Ghoochannejhad and Berg Guðmundsson should have been left on the bench...2 -

Appears so. Issue being, it seems that is was Mel that made it happen and she is obviously gone now. I wonder if she taught Katrien anything in her brief spell...7 -
Install a second screen on top of the police box, have the feed on one, the lineup on the other.
Isn't that fucking hard is it, and big screens are ten a penny nowadays1 -

That's why Nick Pope is preferred to Stephen Henderson in goal, and Morgan Fox to Tareiq Holmes-Dennis, it's to get us ready for next season...IA said:This thread being bumped up reminded me: the screen at Hillsborough was almost exactly what ours should be. It would be churlish not to say that the screen was used properly today.
It would be true to say it's taken all season, and there are four matches only for it to be used properly. In this age of instant, the new and vital softwear we were told about had to be chiseled by a stonemason out of rare amber and granite, and reduced to a size that it could be plugged in to a laptop, hence the delay.
Still we were told we were building a better tomorrow when they wanted our money a year ago, and now we don't exactly have something much better, it's more like it used to be, but then again definition of better before today was 'worse'.
All a bit weird meaning incompetence.4 -
A definite improvement, all we need is for the yellow/red cards and goals to appear next to the player names and it'll be as good as last season!20

It still didn't show goalscorers or yellow cards like the old one used to. Really, how difficult is it?!!2
-
I agree about goalscorers and cards, but then again there were replays which we didn't have last season.
Eight months to get to this point though, and could still be better.2 -
The missing/broken pixels used to piss me off last season but that was it. They could have replaced them at a cost of probably less than a grand and it would have been ok.
The live feed has been very annoying since the start of the season. I would live to see a decent replay of eg a goal particularly if it's at the other end and from several angles.

Part of me thinks it was done as an attempt to negate CARDs promotion of the free programme which included the squad lists.
Maybe I'm reading into it a bit8 -
Font size needs to be bigger, and show yellow cards and goals. The balance of replays on good moments was about right. It is good to finally have the team sheet up, how long did it take though FFS.5
-
Well, it was only because Tony Testicle insisted he knew best and bollocks to what the fans wanted. CARD really need to get after this jumped hotdog salesman.4
-
Tony, tony, give us your answer do,
We're half crazy wondering what the fuck you do,
It's not a well blessed marriage
Here's your hearse and carriage,
You'll never get,
A job again,
You're a bully without a clue.
2 -
It was also because Tony Testicle wouldn't admit to making a costly mistake to his boss (Roland) so kept quiet about it and dismissed everyone who said it should be different.0
-
Hope to have this returned soon as well - few teething problems/glitches which put us off but the main priority for today's game was to get the team line ups on the screenMissed It said:It still didn't show goalscorers or yellow cards like the old one used to. Really, how difficult is it?!!

The old screen model had been discontinued so getting replacement parts wasn't easy especially as an Australian company with a big screen near enough purchased all replacement partsAlwaysneil said:The missing/broken pixels used to piss me off last season but that was it.
