When you next speak/text Richard can you tell him that it is becoming very obvious who your source is although Richard reads Charlton Life anyway so he's most likely worked that out for himself.DOUCHER said:surely peter varney will step aside and forgo his cut for the good of Charlton?

I have no idea about any feud between murray and varney other than what has been said on here but it is logical isn't it? if that is the block, remove yourself from it? or do you really think RD would not sell because of it?? really????Airman Brown said:

Why does he have so little support from the people who once sat on the board with him, do you think?DOUCHER said:agreed - so why does richard murray get so much stick on here? If we dismiss the blocking varney stuff thenwhy does everybody think he should have resigned is position rather than trying to influence from within?? Can it not just be that he is telling the truth?

As an intermediary, Peter Varney has many advantages. Namely:DOUCHER said:we know all that Henry but if you've been trying for 6 months and the intermediary 'seems to be' the problem, why don't they try a different approach????
(a) He's a very good name to have involved in the deal, because he has a lot of goodwill and trust from the fanbase;
(b) He possesses an intimate knowledge of the club; this is knowledge that would prove vital during negotiations and due diligence;
(c) He still has a network around the club, and the right contacts would be vital post-sale.. as well as during negotiations should the existing owners not want to play ball... *ahem*. (One could argue the release of the emails and the subsequent energy behind the protests is a good example of this.)
Furthermore, if they're telling your intermediary that "The club is not for sale" - would you really change intermediaries until you get the answer you want? I don't think so.2 -
Well said. Peter is just a good choice.LuckyReds said:

How can Richard Murray influence from within when he only has 10%?0

Apart from repeatedly apologising (and lying) for the filth that now own Charlton, it could also be something to do with nearly every decision he's made (and everything that's come out of his mouth) since 2006.DOUCHER said:agreed - so why does richard murray get so much stick on here?
He's the person responsible for taking us from a well-run Premier League club to the laughing stock we are now.
'Influence from within'! Do me a favour!!

So never mind Agent Dowie, in true Scooby Doo fashion it was that Agent Murray all along and he would have gotten away with it were it not for that pesky Varneyboggzy said:

Would have more (admittedly not much to date although recent developments have changed that) influence than standing in the car park with a megaphone saying clear off. Not saying that wasn't needed either and re why the directors don't like him - I don't know - coz they lost their money?? tell us airman0

Varney is in touch with RD direct according to him. RD is the man with the money in. Any feud between Varney and RM is irrelevant as is KMs desire not to be sacked. If RD got the offer he wanted he would sell and not give two hoots who the purchaser was. Trouble is, he won't get that offer as we are worthless in League 3.0

I'd rather be at The Valley non-league with 1500 in it rather than elsewhere with 15000.kings hill addick said:It does beg the question though, would we prefer to lose The Valley if it meant getting RD and KM out of the club?

As regards "the next lot", we'll all have to take our chances as none of us will know.DOUCHER said:if they are that interested, why don't they make themselves known? hiding behind varney? if varney's a problem for whatever reason why don't they speak direct to rd like varney now has? None of us liked the spivs once the money was pulled and none of us like the douchatalet thing but how do we know we'll like the next lot? Put up a manifesto I say. whats happened to the email exchange being published?
As sure as hell they cannot be as bad as the Belgians. Of course there will be people of the opinion "better the devil you know'.0 -

"These people have undone everything you have done here"
Murray came back with "YES I KNOW, but unless you have 50 million pounds".0 -
At least the geezer with the megaphone has the interests of the club at heart.DOUCHER said:Would have more (admittedly not much to date although recent developments have changed that) influence than standing in the car park with a megaphone saying clear off. You are getting quite tedious and sounding as if you are a mate within the w****** who are destroying Charlton Athletic.0 -
Good grief does this really matter?
KM says something she probably wishes she hadn't but it changes nothing. RD for now doesn't want to sell albeit like everyone no doubt he would if the right offer were made.
What we may have learnt but wasn't previously shared to us (I don't think in VOTV or elsewhere) is that PV and RD have had some limited contact. That is an improvement on where we were some months back and presumably why some see a glimmer of hope that a sale may emerge in the future.
For now I think the protests and media campaign have had the desired effect and forced RD and KM more into the open and let's just hope player recruitment of the right type also follows very soon.
The change in ownership seems a longer term thing to me. I'm more interested in the short term football only aspect right now as tangible evidence that we can trust RD to repair the damage. Of course that's not to say we shouldn't critically examine the off field stuff but picking over the bones of another misplaced comment isn't going to move us forward. We have to accept that KM is learning this job and that someone behind the scenes needs to help and ensure he infrastructure doesn't fall apart as a consequence.

Learning the job doesn't mean attacking fans and sniping at people who did the job before you did4
-
I take it you are undecided on the Belgians.

...we seize on and highlight every mistake that Meire makes. Ensure that Charlton fans and the wider football world see her for the incompetent, lying fool she is. Pile the pressure on. Bring ridicule upon her. Embarrass her. Force her into making more mistakes. Try to break her so we rid ourselves of this most appalling imaginable apology for a CEO, and hope that this helps to hasten the end of the rest of the regime - Keohane, Murray and of course Duchatelet.23 -

What I'm trying to say is that we have enjoyed success with the protests and I'd like to see what happens now on the football side.
The point is well made on KM gaffs (and which I mostly am in agreement are a problem). Another string of comments here on the numerous threads which all ultimately come back to the same theme isn't worth getting vexed about.

Don't appreciate at all their attitude til now on the football side and want to believe they are going to finally change their ways on this. But equally I don't buy that RD has an ulterior motive that sees the club deliberately undermined as mostly investors lose money on football clubs particularly outside the Premier League.

I think his motives are based around having this FFP beating network idea in his head, and trying to prove it works in reality.valleynick66 said:

What would be a huge sign that he is changing his ways is if we start buying players from other League 1 sides, as he has previous said that he does not believe in giving money to teams in the same division as networked clubs because only makes potential divisional rivals financially stronger whilst weakening his club's finances

She is a complete idiot.
What has surprised me is that she hasn't buckled. She must have had a pretty shit 12 months. I don't know what keeps her at it.m
Ridiculed inside and outside the club, in the national press, a laughing stock in the football industry.
Does she feel she has to carry on because she thinks she can succeed and prove everyone wrong?
There are no signs I have seen that suggests she can turn it around, she seems to just keep making it worse.0 -

Roland duchetelet should not own football clubs, he doesn't understand and Only he and God understand what on earth he thinks he's doing now his grand plan of the network has broken so badly. Unless he hasn't realised it was flawed from the start and has since broken.
The KM and RD combo is terrible. KM does not have the basic skills required to do even a half arsed job in one of the most important roles in the club.
Charlton are now a pariah of a club for managers, staff and players. A bad joke.
Slade and Head could stand a chance if They can outflank Katrien but make no mistake, any progress will be because the Belgians approving someone else's work rather than doing any themselves.1 -
