Reckon we could entice Gordon out of retirement to have a front two of Holmes & Watson?

this is a bit peculiar as from the YouTube clips it looks like he is right footed and played on the right - weird!

    But not unique!!

I hope the other members of the squad give him a warm welcome, so it really feels like Holmes sweet home for him from day one.

Hoping he'll bang in a hattrick and put in a Man of the Match performance on the first day of the season - the Ideal Holmes Show

I just fear that if he performs well, the big clubs will start sniffing round and the January transfer window will end up with Holmes under the hammer.

Funnily enough, I got lost whilst driving around Northampton a few weeks ago, and Ricky happened to be walking along the street so I pulled over to ask for directions. I said, show me the way to go Holmes.

    No shit Sherlock (Holmes)

Just watched the interview. He says he wants to get "bums off seats". Don't bother son, Two Shits and The Witch have already done that!

Was this the bloke we was linked with when Wilder was going to come in?

    Yes he was.
So not really a Slade signing then, one of his "top targets" who happened to be linked with us a month before. hmmmm
So two managers can't share an appreciation of a player?
Of course they can but when you have control freaks who own the club and 99% of the time decide who's coming in regardless of who the manager is begins to ring a few alarm bells.
That is a fair point. I'm going to give Slade a chance, the fookers above him can still do one...

Too bloody right, he'd get kicked about in League 1... Also think how many decent players that are high championship level you could get at the price of that one man.

You could get at least 50 decent champ level players for the price of a Messi.

Messi has no League 1 or championship experience. Waste of money.
  • Bums off seats, agh bless him, we'll be lucky to get them on seats!

Hello Rickie. Welcome to the madhouse. Hope you are good. Never actually heard of you but at least there is some logic to your signing than some we have had of late.

Holmes played for Chelmsford years ago in the Ryman league. He was much better than anyone else by a long way.
For a couple of years the standard headline in the local rag was Holmes to sign for City/United/Town.

When he was 21 he 'retired' only to join Barnet a week later. A very odd way to transfer.

You're right on one thing, it is the underdog thing.

Charlton have been underdogs for ever and we have had to watch our best players being sold.

What do you think Northampton are going to do to replace Holmes. The most likely scenario is that they will replace him with some club's star player from L2. Like I said it's a dog eat dog world.

Absolutely nothing to do with bollocks or class!

Maybe that's why I feel for Northampton. I'll get over it. I may even get to see Ricky Holmes again if RD and KM fuck off. Not til then.
I'm not an idiot, I know how it works, and I celebrated the success of out new team and a half as they steamrollered to the top of L1 but I bought into Northampton last season and will be going to watch them until Charlton are free of those f***ng leeches.
It has to do with bollocks and class for me: if CAFC had them this wouldn't bother me at all.

Honestly mate he was a joy to watch last year. Clearly too good for L2, and possibly for L1 but he hasn't got many years left of the kind of play that leaves defences standing...fast, nippy, creative.
He's also a team player and other players respond to him...can see him swiftly becoming captain.

Just watched his goals. Seems to have good feet and balance and not afraid to shoot.
