Also as it stands, Turkey are going through despite losing 2 games and having a -2 goal difference!0

Unless Sweden or Ireland can upset Belgium or Italy... this'll be the line up for the 2nd round:
SWITZERLAND v POLAND (c)
v
CROATIA v PORTUGAL (c)
WALES v TURKEY
v
HUNGARY v BELGIUM
GERMANY v SLOVAKIA (c)
v
ITALY v SPAIN (c)
FRANCE v N IRELAND
v
ENGLAND v ICELAND (c)
(c) is a confirmed fixture, otherwise it's still to be determined.0 -
because our team is full of overpaid young men who are more celebrities than footballers from a a morally corrupt Premiership1StevieG said:

No. They are in the same half.Lincsaddick said:Italy v Spain .. the winners of this could well be in the final ...... against Iceland ((:>)

Fancy Croatia to turn them over though.Chris_from_Sidcup said:The ironic thing is that by Iceland scoring that late goal and winning the game, Portugal have been landed in the top (easier) half of the draw.

Easily the best afternoons football so far. Can ROI, Italy, Belgium and Sweden, beat that.0

Wales could still play Northern Ireland if Sweden beat Belgium!Chris_from_Sidcup said:Callumcafc said:Unless Sweden or Ireland can upset Belgium or Italy... this'll be the line up for the 2nd round:

My feelings exactly. We've struggled to break defensive teams down. But on paper you'd chose playing Iceland out of the two even though Portugal aren't a decent team and are nothing to fear.Chris_from_Sidcup said:The only issue for us is Portugal would've attacked whereas Iceland will park the bus same as our other 3 games. Still can't complain
Whoever we play there's reasons not to be confident I s'pose.0 -

I can't see the Anglo Saxons breaking down that Viking shield wall. Ironic that this year is the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Stamford Bridge though...1

No, the Battle of Stamford Bridge was 28 years ago in 1988Yorkshireaddick said:I can't see the Anglo Saxons breaking down that Viking shield wall. Ironic that this year is the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Stamford Bridge though...

Wow. One of the best Premier League finishes in years and you think it is morally bankrupt? I don't want Charlton anywhere near that cess pit then....give me the innocent cloggers of league one anyday.lancashire lad said:

Why hasn't the N Ireland/Turkey outcome been sorted? Both have played their games.0

The Icelandic commentators are ecstatic

In recent years with Beckham, Ferdinand, Gerrard, Cole etc and the whole WAG thing you might have had a point but right now i can't think of too many players in our squad who i'd consider to be much of a celebrity.
The likes of Walker, Rose, Cahill, Smalling, Alli, Dier, Lallana, Vardy, Kane, Milner are all good honest, hard working players.2 -
Well for a start, if Sweden and ROI both win then Turkey are out.ValleyGary said:Why hasn't the N Ireland/Turkey outcome been sorted? Both have played their games.

Turkey are the weakest of the current "qualifiers", if a team overtakes N Ireland, then Turkey will be out and N Ireland will become the weakest team and have Turkey's current opposition?ValleyGary said:Why hasn't the N Ireland/Turkey outcome been sorted? Both have played their games.

Ahhhh I see. That's pretty simple actually haha.0

So everyone who said England would be able to play a more expansive game against a team who come out and attack can now look forward to us playing Iceland, who like to sit back and hit teams on the break - and do it a lot more successfully than Slovakia and Russia. An early goal for us might open it up, but as it stands, this will be another tough little nut to crack.0

I remember that well !Yorkshireaddick said:I can't see the Anglo Saxons breaking down that Viking shield wall. Ironic that this year is the 950th anniversary of the Battle of Stamford Bridge though...
We beat the vikings and the next battle was against the French when a defensive mistake let then in and we were out of the Euro wars of the 11th Century. The Irony was Harold used too many players that weren't Battle fit as they had too many miles in their legs.
Sound familiar ?3
