I will PM you @Kevin_Yahoo0

One of my favourite ever players.
Not the best technically but give me 11 grafters any day.
Loved his passion and commitment0 -
One of charltons most under appreciated players from our Prem days, legend.6

He opitimises that era for me, a work rate that saw him usually cover more miles a game than anyone else on the field of play. Very much a 'Stevie Brown won't let you down' type of player, no, not the most skilful or best player to grace the Valley turf the last 30 years but you'd rarely see one give more for the cause and he did the job well that the manager wanted him to do, can't ask more than that.
A true pro in every sense of the word, he was everything that the vast majority of players over the last 2 years were not. I'd put him in my top ten for sure over the past 3 decades. Believe he went back to his home club at the end of his career, further show of the man.
A real Curbishley player, like Mendonca, Holland, Brown, Kinsella, Balmer, Chapple, Konchesky, Powell, Nelson, Robinson and many more, you could say the same of many players Powell signed, Yann, Morrison, Green, Wagstaff, Wiggins for instance. Not at the pinnacle of the great game but put them all in a team of similar pro's and combined they were better than the sum of the individual parts.
Getting depressed now, what we had, what we could have had again, what we could have been...... I know most will disagree but under different owners I really think Powell could have achieved as much as Curbishley if not more, but we'll never know now.......5 -
Worse thing about him is his wiki page pic! In a Leicester shirt!!!? Someone who knows more than me about such things really should change that to him in Charlton red. 7 games for the Foxes. 180 for us.3

Ronaldo can score all the La Liga goals he likes, the trophies, the accolades.
What an extraordinary talent.
So why can't he sleep at night?
The recurring nightmare of kish being announced on charltons team sheet before he's about to let loose at the valley.10 -
Nothing special at RB, but a really good defensive midfielder, and a great character. I remember that team that blossomed for a few months in 2005? with Kish and Smertin doing the donkey in midfield, Murphy in what we would now call the No 10 role, and Bent up top.4

Him and John Robinson epitomised what it meant to play for Charlton when I was growing up. 110% every week, left nothing out on the pitch.
I also think Kishishev was a far better player than he was given credit for. Very effective playing alongside Murphy if I remember correctly.

He ruined us for Brighton in that 4-0 defeat0

Curbs loved him. Proper players player. Apparently covered more miles than anyone.
There was a black player who used to play for Fulham in midfield. He was massive and he had a nickname which I cannot remember. He clattered Parker i think and Kish ran over to get involved then very wisely thought better of it!

Proper Charlton player who played all his league matches for us in the Premiership.
He made occasional mistakes simply because he never hid, covered every blade of grass and always made himself available to receive a pass. There will always be those unable to see the basic statistical fact that the more you are involved in the game the greater the probability of a mistake, hence the unwarranted stick he sometimes received from certain sections of the crowd. The majority of us though were in the 'he's here he's there he's every f***ing where Kishishev, Kishishev' camp and fully appreciated his qualities as did Alan Curbishley, good enough as our manager to justify being mentioned in the same sentence as the Great Jimmy Seed. The passing and tackling (opta?) stats also demonstrated the massive contribution Kish made to every match he played in.
As others have said his qualities were probably appreciated a little by his detractors when at the age of 36 or 37 he played for Brighton at The Valley and absolutely bossed the midfield against the then heralded Semedo and Racon.
A great player for us and very underrated generally possibly partially because of his self effacing manner relative to most of his contemporaries.11 -
I named my old Volvo Estate "Kishishev" as although it was not the most spectacular car but like him it was strong, reliable and had a big heart.2

Len's just basically said what I was going to. I could see why some don't rate him as if you do look at the goals against highlight reels, you'll see plenty of Kish mistakes leading to goals, which was just unfortunate, but his terrific work-rate, the way he always wanted the ball and made himself available made him one of my favourite CAFC players.
I also had the privilege of being one of very few Addicks to see him score a 30 yard screamer in the friendly in Shenzhen.2 -
A true definition of a team mate. Never grumbled about his lot and always put a shift in.
The reason his mistakes are highlighted on here was he never hid in any match.
These threads kill me, remembering the greats we had to the shower we have now.

Loved him as a player and Len has summed up his qualities perfectly. I was fortunate enough to have a chat with him at a POTY do, on one my trips over. He was just a really nice down to earth guy, who was gutted that Pardew didn't like him and had sent him out on loan, I think it was to Leeds. So even though he wasn't playing for us, he still attended our POTY function.4

Absolutely. A really honest hard worker who never hid. I thought he was a great player for us and could never understand the stick that some people gave him.Garrymanilow said:
Interesting to see someone post something similar to what I was going to say. He was a real hard worker but for some reason, whenever he did make a mistake, wherever it was on the pitch, it led to a goal. I've never looked at it from your perspective, I just always assumed he was massively unlucky.arthur said:I always thought that he was good at bailing others out when they made a mistake. But if he made a mistake no one managed to repay the favour so he often got blamed for the team conceding goals.
I used to really dislike him when he started. I was young and didn't see what he brought to the tem, especially at RB, but as I got older I began to understand how much he did in the middle of the park. Lovely man as well. Big fan3 -
Loved him even for his flaws. Gave everything every game.
Used to always know within the first couple of minutes what kind of game he was going to have though. If he gave the ball away then take him off. If he did something well within those couple of minutes you knew it was odds on he would be our best player and mostly likely man of the match.0 -
there is an anecdote/joke about Kish - cant remember it all & don't want to repeat it as I'd rather someone who knows it fully to repeat it - but goes along the lines of a manager ringing Curbs after a game asking him to get Kish to stopping following ????? around as he cant go to sleep.0

Unsung hero0

I remember a Sky reporter speaking to Mourinho shortly before a match against Chelsea and he picked our Kishishev for special mention.
A key player for us, but sadly many fans could not seem to see beyond his flaws.
It's the fate of many players of that era. If they were more perfect they would not have been playing for Charlton.
Curbs got the best out of him.2 -
I think he won most fans were won over by him in the last couple of years . I remember us beating Boro away 3-0Six-a-bag-of-nuts said:I remember a Sky reporter speaking to Mourinho shortly before a match against Chelsea and he picked our Kishishev for special mention.

And him and Smertin absolutely bossed it0 -
That midfield 3 of smertin, kish and Murphy when they were on fire that season will probably be the best I'll ever see of a Charlton midfield.3

It looked like Curbs had hit the mother-lode; what with Benty sticking them away and Rommedahl in the mix.kentaddick said:That midfield 3 of smertin, kish and Murphy when they were on fire that season will probably be the best I'll ever see of a Charlton midfield.
And then the oppo started crowding Murphy out.1
