Songs from the Road - Leonard Cohen

I had Songs of Love and Hate on earlier. Sad times. Glad I got to see him live a few years back.
  • I sometimes think Joni is as mad as a box of frogs.
But her search for the one true love has produced some of her best work.
    This is a fucking masterpiece.

One of my favourite albums. Pastorius on bass is outstanding. Amelia in my top 10 songs ever. Guitar line is hypnotic.

Ethnomusicology - Compiled by Iain Dub, Various Artists
  • Load - Metallica (via Spotify)

I've not been a head banger since my teens and 20's but have heard the odd tune from Metallica that I've liked, particularly "King Nothing" and saw them on the beeb, live at Maida Vale and I'm tempted to buy an album.

Any Metallica fans on CL? what album would you recommend?

Go early and see a fantastic band from Glasgow called The Twilight Sad who have been opening for them around the world. One of my favorite bands and I've had the pleasure of meeting them on a few occasions and they're a lovely group of lads.

Yes, I was looking yesterday, but what put me off slightly was, "Twilight Sad's notoriously loud live performances have been described as completely ear-splitting". I'm deaf enough already. Lol.

It's a difficult decision staying in JJ Moons, Kingsbury at £2.50 a pint or The Twilight Sad.

I'll probably join them half way through.

They won't be that loud. That's from the wiki page from ages ago. I've seen them solo in a small club in San Diego and they weren't that loud. In recent years they've really refined themselves and their sound, and your levels are pretty set in such large venues.
