I've not been a head banger since my teens and 20's but have heard the odd tune from Metallica that I've liked, particularly "King Nothing" and saw them on the beeb, live at Maida Vale and I'm tempted to buy an album.
Any Metallica fans on CL? what album would you recommend?
I'm little past these kind of shows I'm afraid, but went a few times in the eighties, clash of the titans shows I think they called, with anthrax and megadeth, the black album was big at the time, try that.
1978. Contains the hit single 'Northern Lights', sung by the wonderful Annie Haslam.
p.s. The LP's cover design, by Hipgnosis, probably influenced the cover photo on Japan's 1980 LP Gentlemen Take Polaroids. (Both are excellent albums, in my opinion).
A few weeks ago I posted a video of the excellent Norwegian Chamber Orchestra playing Peter Warlock's Capriol Suite. For those that are interested, here's the same orchestra, this time led by violinist Barnabas Kelemen, playing Romanian Folk Dances, written by Bela Bartok in 1915. It's based on Romanian tunes from Transylvania, originally played on fiddle or shepherd's flute. I admire this orchestra. They play with panache and always appear to be having a good time.

The world is a beautiful place and I'm no longer afraid to die - whatever, if ever
it's a grower for me though, think its a pretty good album.
