Question....why do footballers seem to frequently suffer from hernia problems?
  • [cite]Posted By: Swisdom[/cite]We would have finished below 11th without Holland last year.

We'd have finished higher than 11th without him imo!

Agree with Barn Door on this. Can't fault Holland as a good pro but we needed and need something more. Sort it out Waggy!

Don't get me wrong - I used to think he was pants but last season he was excellent - hence player of the year!
I agree we need someone else in there but he certainly served a purpose last season

If Matt is a regular this season, then 11th is where we can expect to finish again.

Whereas a 16 year old with 2 appearances will guarantee us the title!

[cite]Posted By: Swisdom[/cite]If he is injured he should say "I am injured and not available" not "I'll play even though I am not 100% and don't blame me if I play like a twat"

If by play like a twat you mean be one of our best players, then this post is 100% spot on.

He hides too much to be one of our best players
    He misses relatively easy chances
He gives the ball away too often
    He doesn't track back

I honestly think he could be a fantastic player in behind the striker(s) but his inconsistency is sooo frustrating. Hopefully when fully fit we see the best of him

he needs to play behind the front man/men. however due to our lack of a midfield only 2 of semedo, holland and zz can play there imo, therefore pushing him out to the wing. if this does happen stick him on the left so he can cut in on his right foot.....he's much more deadly than jt when doing that

I've long thought that with our attacking full backs, and the fact that our wingers haven't really done the business, we should play a midfield diamond with Moo2 and Youga giving the width.

Semedo plays the holding role, ZZ and Racon (or new midfielder) in the middle, Ambrose just behind the front 2.

Both Varney and Toderov like to roam which would split the centre backs and make space for Ambrose to make runs from the middle.

Would put a lot of pressure on the wing backs with ZZ and Racon as defensive cover don`t you think ?
  • Not really. Both Youga and Moo2 have shown that they have good engines and have the pace to get back. You would also have Semedo covering.

From the Times via the BBC:

Charlton are set to sell Madjid Bougherra to Real Betis after the Spanish side offered £2.3m for the Algeria defender.

if he goes, even though he wasn't great at the start of the season he did improve as the season wore on, i really think we'll miss him and we will be a poorer team(and that's saying something) without him...
our defence will struggle next year imo IF bouggy goes but needs must and 2-3-4-5 year plan has to be paid for somehow and the excitement of championship football gets more and more gripping each season

If they have offered £2.3m up front i can't see us doing anything other than accepting it.

it looks like Valley Gold members will be paying for the 2-3-4-5 year plan.
