No one buying a round then? Thought those with an empty glass look like they know how to look surprised, look at their empty glass, and then say after a considered pause as if actually thinking about it, why yes, another pint would be good, thank you.Henry Irving said:Great evening just too much to talk about and not enough time.

First time I've been to a Bromley meeting. Excellent evening, really interesting. Please invite him back!
Is it just me or does James look a bit like Jeremy Clarkson?4 -
Bar was closed so we couldn't hear the Palace fans next door.Redrobo said:

Fascinating insight into Seed the man
His life long health problems due to twice being gassed in WW1 and his spells of depression but I'll let Jim tell all the stories in his forthcoming book.6 -
Excellent evening. Sorry GHF and I had to leave early, but cab came at once rather than time ordered. We had a great time though.1

Happy to have given away two prizes yesterday (copies of 'Soccer From The Inside', Jimmy's book published in around 1948).
Quizzes questions were:
1. What did Jimi Hendrix and my grandad have in common?
Answer - Both had James Marshal forenames.
2. What was wrong with the cover of Charlton's cheeky re-issue of The Jimmy Seed Story (pictured above)?
Answer - The photo they used was taken on Jimmy's first day as Millwall manager, and the players were of course Millwall players.
Just a small slip up then!
Yesterday was the first time I've ever done a talk on Jimmy Seed, or indeed on anything not 'Cameraman' related.
I basically had far too much material, and it was difficult to display the photographs adequately. I'll definitely have to learn PowerPoint for the next effort.
Perhaps our next owners will let us use a room at The Valley for Pt2.
When I retire in September I'll start proper research, with access to newspaper archives. I also intent to visit Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday to see what I can dig up with the help of their historians. And Tottenham too.
I also mentioned last night that my dream is to get a statue of Jimmy put up near the entrance, to complement the Sam one. A matching pair if you like, about ten yards apart. They were always a great double act, and very close throughout their time at Charlton. Without the pair of them it's unlikely CAFC would have had the great success it's had.

I think that would be great to see a statue of Jimmy Seed next to Sam Bartram.JamesSeed said:I also mentioned last night that my dream is to get a statue of Jimmy put up near the entrance, to complement the Sam one. Its a shame that it wasnt done at the same time (because the current Sam Bartram statute is a great piece of work) but are there no historic images of the two next to each other that could have been used as a combined statue (sort of like the below).0 -

That would make some caption competition, though probably not right where the great man's family would see it.Henry Irving said:0 -
Joking apart, you can only imagine what was going through Jimmy's mind when the photo was taken.Stig said:
