My favourite Charlton player. Welcome to the old man's club Claus.

Quite an unusual character was/is Claus.
He actually wasn't that much interested in football, the glory of being a Premiership star, or the awe it portrayed in others.......to him it was just a way of earning a damn good living, nothing more nothing less.
I wonder what he's up to nowadays......I'll wager it's nothing to do with football.

A great player, who disappointed a bit, when he played for Denmark. Never as dominant.
He did once score a hattrick (2002 or 2003) in a friendly against Egypt.

On a positive for Charlton, his winner against Blackburn (3-2).
On a negative, his penalty miss against Villa in the last minute. We lost 2-1.

He was a Premier League commentator for Danish TV a few years back.
He's also been involved in politics (Socialists People's Party).
Last I heard, he was the chairman for a small Danish club, Nykøbing FC. The dream is to bring them all the way up to the top of the Danish football, Superligaen. They're currently in the league below, 1. Division.

Well that does surprise me to be honest........he always indicated that football wasn't of great interest to him during his playing years.
Oh well .....good luck to the bloke I say with whatever he chooses to do in life.
    Thanks for the info Danepak.

    Class Jensen.

Had no idea that he's only a couple of years older than I am. And I've never pinged one in at Highbury :-(

    You're welcome.

The Nykøbing FC project is done with a friend of his, a Danish celebrity chef (yes, they exist in Denmark as well). They're both from Nykøbing and have been pumping a fair amount of dosh in, to get them into the Superligaen. Time will tell if they succeed. Currently they're just above the relegation line.

A sheer joy to watch, a player who could turn a game with a moment of divine skill. I well remember his late, late winner v Blackburn after goalkeeper Brad Friedel scored a seemingly last ditch equaliser. It was a game of pure drama ... alas, a distant dream.

As great a player as he was I still have some resentment at him leaving to go to Fulham, of all places. I think he went for c. £1.25m after we'd paid something like £4m for him, and at 27 he was hardly at the end of his career.

I know players have the right to move but I can't think of a player as a legend when they choose another, similar sized, club that play in the same city.

    He was outrageously talented though.

Was gutted when he left....such a quality player.

One of the most (if not most) technically gifted midfielders I've seen play for us.
But he also had that work ethic instilled by Curbs. Top player.
