  • Probably won't see Holmes again off to Sheff Utd I think.
  • First game since Millwall for me -

Rudd: 7 - Quite busy and did OK
Solly: 7 - Typical Solly game, solid in defence and busy going forwards
Bauer: 7 - No frills, might have done better with headers at corners?
Pearce: 6.5 - Couple of errors and lack of concentration, but OK
DaSilva: 7 - Some nice touches, and seemed at home
Crofts: 5.5 - Usual Crofts, busy, but awful passing
Byrne: 6.5 - Worked hard but often made the wrong choice to me
Forster-Caskey: 7 - Pushed up and got forward well, likes a shot!
Jackson: 5 - Passed by in first half and goal hanged in 2nd, but we love him to death. Shame the keeper saved when he had his glorious chance.
    Holmes: 8 - Different class
Magennis: 7 - Nice header for his goal and full of running but touch often let him down

Ahearne-Grant Bigger than he used to be and getting better
Aribo: No longer "the next..." and I don't think he will ever be.
Barnes: Seemed really pleased to get a debut five minutes

Gobinson did OK and was his usual chirpy self throughout.

The Ref made a couple of bloopers but was generally OK.

  • Rudd: 7 thought he controlled his box well. a couple of hairy moments but some good saves.
Solly: 6 didn't have a lot to do but a few times their winger got the cross over from his side.
Bauer: 6 a bit slow and some poor positional play but overall was ok.
    Pearce: 6 similar to Bauer.
DaSilva: 7 not a full back but still did well. good going forward. shame we wont have him next season cos I would love to see him play further forward.
Crofts: 7 great pressing and tackling. does give the ball away but tries to win it back. closest we've come to another Pritchard which is no bad thing.
    Byrne: 6
Forster-Caskey: 5.5 probably our worst player. kept giving the ball away. still he did get a goal...sort of.
Jackson: 7 I get the taking him off for the standing ovation but really he could of stayed on a further 10 mins.
Homes: 7.5 glad he got player of the year. without him we would be down.
Magennis: 7 seemed to play like he did before his injury. linked up well and was a threat to their defence from the off.

Rudd: 7 - Dropped the ball from a shot, but commanded the 6 yard box when needed.
    Solly: 6.5 - Ok.
    Bauer: 6
    Pearce: 6
DaSilva: 8 - Can only think that he didn't play more due to protecting him for Euro Under 19 qualifiers. Really good player & would be very happy for him to be at Charlton next season.
Crofts: 5.5 - Slow & gave the ball away, varaible protection of back 4.
Byrne: 6.5 - better further up the pitch, really quick, happy if he stayed for next season.
    Forster-Caskey: 6 - variable
Jackson: 7 - Extra points for presence on pitch that lifted game. It would have been brilliant if he had scored.
Homes: 8 - On another level in terms of energy & application
Magennis: 7 - looking more like his old self. Applauded fans in the East stand. Nice touch.

  • Rudd: 6.5 - one good save in the first half, together with one spillage which could have proved costly. A good goalie but I'd like to see Dillon Phillips as our number 1 next season
    Solly: 7 - pretty tenacious
Bauer: 7 - one misjudgment in the first half led to a booking he but read the game well and made some good clearances
Pearce: 7 - solid and comfortable throughout
DaSilva: 8.5 - an excellent performance, particularly in the first half. It would be great if we could get him on loan again but I suspect he'll get a gig in the Championship
Crofts: 6.5 - did pretty well. One passage of play summed him up, however - he squandered possession, did exceptionally well to win it back and then passed the ball straight back to a Swindon player
Byrne: 5.5: a good attempt on goal in the first half and laid on the second goal but this was an uneven performance. I have some sympathy with him, having had to fill in so often at right back, but I'm not sure he's done enough in his time with us
Forster-Caskey: 7 - pretty good but I'd like to see a little more creativity and forward passing from him. He has some important attributes but needs to pull them all together
Jackson: 6.5 - some good combination play in the first half and came so close to signing off with a trademark goal
Homes: 8.5 - if there is even a shred of ambition to get back to the Championship, it is imperative that we retain our best player. Rumours of a departure to Sheffield United are worrying and I see that they are mentioned in Kevin Nolan's match report
Magennis: 7.5 - led the line well

I realise that subsequently having viewed highlights!

However from the Covered End at the time looking towards the Jimmy Seed goal, with my ageing, deteriorating eyesight and Ricky's general endeavour, he appeared to be in close enough proximity to the final ball for the goals for me to mistakenly credit him when 'posting without reading.'
