Same every summer since they've turn't up. Frilly bit signings in June, naff all in July and a couple of duds in August.15

Something changed last few weeks it appears, I dont want to get to excited but starting to hope its a sign of preparing for a sale at some point this year.6

I don't remember anyone from the club publicly stating that the Lookman money would be invested this summer.
I've read a few people on here demanding it, and speculating that it might happen, but I never thought that Robinson was going to have anything like that kind of money to spend.3 -

Is it the wage bill that is the problem, and not the budget for transfer fees?
We needed them off the wage bill to comply with financial fair play if we brought new signings in?2 -

At the Fans Forum meeting on 23rd June Chief Finance officer David Joyes made it clear that the salary cap management protocol (whereby player costs must not exceed 60% of turnover) will not be a problem this season for Charlton Athletic.3 -

The Lookman money was needed to help offset the massive operating loss in 2015/16 - or if you prefer to cover the heavy operating loss in 2016/17. For a similar reason coming down the track in 2017/18 they will sell Konsa if they can, assuming they are still here.2

I think there are two aspects here;
1. Salaries, which from the comment from Robinson needed to be reduced before he could outlay anymore. That MUST be internal management as pointed out the club have said the FFP is not an issue
2. Transfer budget. I never expected much of one and not sure if any specifics have ever been stated other than previously we've heard 'top 6 budget' which frankly could mean anything.
As Airman has pointed out, each year there are enevitable operating losses either through poor management and/or the fact in league 1 we will always make a loss (and championship or league 2 come to that).
Frankly I still don't believe the owner and his appointed senior management have enough nous to properly run a football club. Things may have improved but they got to a low point so difficult not to improve. But as we all know, P1ss off 80% of your customer base (and I include corporate sponsors in that) and any business is doomed to fail.14 -

I think we've got 3 players who would walk into any team in this division; Pearce, Josh and Holmes. Not including Marshall in that because I have never actually seen him play.
We've got plenty of wild cards such as, Kashi. A player who should be class above this decision but is coming back from being crocked.
Watt and Novak should be amongst the better players in this division but don't appear to be doing the job for us.
Plus we've got plenty of young players who need to show they are capable of competiting a 46 games season; Konsa, Aribo and JFC.
We should be challenging for the top 6. However can't see us getting anywhere near the top 2.1 -
I'm sure we have one of the biggest wage bills in Division 1 , just a lot of it goes on over paid legacy players that we can't offload1

Timely interview with Tubby McScouser. Call me cynical but the bit I've highlighted sounds like chapter 1 of the fairytale entitled "Why we didn't sign any players even though we're really ambitious, going for promotion and told you that we've learned from our mistakes".
I hate him. I hate him for being an obnoxious pain in the arse, and I hate him for clearly signing up to a deal whereby he uses his interviews to make excuses for the owner's lack of ambition.
