Depends if Dillon Phillips wants to wait around to become our No.1killerandflash said:https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/27924/charlton-plan-sign-another-goalkeeper-send-highly-rated-youngster-loan/
Another keeper in, with Dillon going out on loan. If this was always the plan, it seems silly that it's been left so late in the summer really
I know he's only 23-years old and should be biding his time like Joe Aribo and Ezri Konsa neither of whom are assured First-Team players either yet the difference is there is only one Goalkeeper position whilst those two can play across either the Midfield or Defence1 -
Robinson gives interview to SLP, asks himself the questions.
“He came to the game. Do I like him – 100 per cent. We’ll have to see what happens."
'Has he passed his forklift driver's test? He gives the test.'22 -
I would have thought that most clubs would have sorted themselves out a bit sooner than now, so I really hope he's able to get a loan if we get another keeper in. Don't think he should necessarily expect to be in the squad, but it would be a little unfair for him to be first choice throughout the entire pre-season, only to be left without a club as it's been left so late and with very little or no chance of playing for us all season, unless perhaps this was communicated to him from the off.killerandflash said:https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/27924/charlton-plan-sign-another-goalkeeper-send-highly-rated-youngster-loan/

It's a fair assessment from Robinson. I just wish we'd got Martin in early so Phillips could have a full pre season with new team mates.killerandflash said:https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/27924/charlton-plan-sign-another-goalkeeper-send-highly-rated-youngster-loan/

He's been here since he was 11 and just wants to play football now. Can't blame him. If rumours are true his salary isn't great either. I think it's safe to say he will be off as I think he is in his last year of his contract tooForeverAddickted said:

Perhaps these were two photos taken in parallel universe's
One where he's signing from a shit 3rd div club for a new shit 3rd div club for ten bob and the other where we outbid Real Madrid for the current ballon d'or winner for £100M to play alongside 5 of the England 2014 World cup winning squad.0 -
Yeah according to the Squad List his contract expires next SummerSwisdom said:

Do a Chelsea, he can go out on loan if he signs a new three year deal - If not then he doesnt even play for the U23s
*Note I am joking as hate the way Chelsea take this approach4 -
Can someone explain why we're going after another keeper?1
-
Because Phillips needs to play and it is not felt he is ready to be a regular for Charlton.colthe3rd said:Can someone explain why we're going after another keeper?
Now the temporary loan system is more difficult to manage then it would be silly not to have two keepers. Indeed I would even argue it would be useful to have a third3 -
We've got a 3rd keeper, he's our striker...

I can't see Martin wanting to come in to play second fiddle to Amos, after several years of being MKD's number 1. It's not like Elliott, Hamer and Pope going to PL clubs with much higher status and salary levels, where being backup is still attractive4
-
Bolton may have a recall clause whereby Amos can get called back in January. Also, we seem to pay higher wages than the average League 1 teamkillerandflash said:I can't see Martin wanting to come in to play second fiddle to Amos, after several years of being MKD's number 1. Exactly. I don't see the point in wasting wages on another experienced keeper. If we were going after a younger keeper with something to prove then fine. Personally I'd rather just keep Phillips, play him in cup games and if/when Amos is injured or loses form stick him in.killerandflash said:I can't see Martin wanting to come in to play second fiddle to Amos, after several years of being MKD's number 1. There is no recall clause.4

From his point of view ideally yes . A lot depends on geography . Robinson said he is 'local' . I understand from the MKD Messageboard that he has moved to Essex recently . A gig closer to home could appeal to him .killerandflash said:I can't see Martin wanting to come in to play second fiddle to Amos, after several years of being MKD's number 1. I admire your optimism in thinking that RD and KM have any kind of plan!killerandflash said:https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/27924/charlton-plan-sign-another-goalkeeper-send-highly-rated-youngster-loan/

Any plan they may have had was quite likely to get a keeper in as late as possible to avoid paying their wages for more weeks7 -
For nothing to happen all summer though suggests a lack of enthusiasm, either from the player or KR. It's not as if he's 37 and winding down his career, he should be in his peak years now so his next move is very importantRichard J said:

I believe you can still sign goalkeepers on an emergency loan if required.Richard J said:

Players on a season long loan can ONLY be recalled in the January window, but only if a recall clause was agreed at the time of the deal.
And the loan can also be cancelled if both clubs agree, so if there is no clause, he's ours for the season unless we say otherwise, Bolton have no say in the matter.1 - Sponsored links:

Only if there is an injury to both of your recognised keepers. If one lost form you can't replace them any more.Scoham said:

He's 4th choice at Bolton, they haven't been paying their wages on time (not sure if they are up to date now) and have a winding up order against them.sam3110 said:

Martin is fixed up elsewhere apparently & Phillips will be loaned, because he hasn't got the experience, gravitas and not vocal enough (in my opinion) to be the first choice.3 -
Really really don't want Mavididi, not a bad player by any means but basing your team around a loan player never ends well3
-
You have to say if they add Reeves, Mivividi and Martin to the squad it's been a good summer for transfers. Certainly an improvement on previous years. If.6

Huddersfield got promoted to the prem on loans. It'll do me.Pelling1993 said:Really really don't want Mavididi, not a bad player by any means but basing your team around a loan player never ends well

We need to sign good players that are hungry to do well and fit into our squad and system. If a loan player is better than anyone we can sign permanently I don't see the problem. As said it worked for Huddersfield.Pelling1993 said:Really really don't want Mavididi, not a bad player by any means but basing your team around a loan player never ends well
