Robinson not discounting Konsa will go this window......possibly Everton!

It will undermine all the positive stuff the club have done to the squad since the end of last season.
Belgians out.6 -
An unfortunate statement.
It smells of the club 'trailing their coat' for a sale.
Why comment on a hypothetical situation - i.e. receiving an offer we have to think very seriously about accepting when we haven't bloody well received one.
An alternative narrative would be to simply say that Ezra Konsa is an integral player in a team and squad that we hope is going to get us promoted this season.6 -
When I met Robinson back in February he said Konsa would go in the summer, i'm surprised he hasn't already gone. Lets face it we'll get players on the cheap (what have we spent this summer, about £300k?) and any youngster worth a value will be sold, the model hasn't changed.4

It's not a hypothetical situation though. It's been the plan all along.Blucher said:An unfortunate statement.

If Douche-chatelet was as good at running our club as he is at holding out for the right price in player sales, we would be in the Premier League by now. He is a genius at squeezing buyers.2

I expect him to go in January. They will follow the 'model' they applied with Lookman and resisted interest in the summer and saw the price increase over the next five months.
Suspect they will take the same approach with Konsa3 -
Because that's the only bit that interests him.NapaAddick said:If Douche-chatelet was as good at running our club as he is at holding out for the right price in player sales, we would be in the Premier League by now. He is a genius at squeezing buyers.

They really squeezed QPR and Brighton eh8

"My proposition would be a real unique football fan experience — and see hopefully the next stars of the Premier League, which we will have play for Charlton in the first team and then sell onto the Premier League.”
Anyone remotely surprised by this has not been paying attention.
Real football ambition and desire to climb the leagues by a billionaire owner would see them perhaps let the manager build and maintain a squad that had the best chance of achieving that.
Stuff like this if it happens, Lookman's sale etc is mandatory for a club that doesn't have the resources to go any other route. But surely 3 years in and the penny must drop that selling good players and then having to find suitable replacements to fill the void in a market where talent is rare unless a huge premium is paid (defeating the very logic of such a sale in the first place) is not conducive to footballing success.
The experiment continues if this happens and the same bullshit will be trotted out in 9 months unless trends are bucked and the sale of key players at key points of seasons miraculously don't impact footballing success.
Hoping to be proved wrong and will judge on what unfolds in the next few months but ffs.12 -

Does this mean there may be an element of truth in the Alex Bruce rumours...0

Maybe Karl will do what Slade did with Ade last year, not let him start a game until the window has closed to shove any interest down the road until Jan.0

Thanks for putting the link up clive.....I don't know how to do it!!clive said:0 -
Gotta pay for the training ground somehow.6

Don't panic everyone we've got a rejuvenated Nabby Sarr to come in not forgetting Harry Lennon of course whose stock is rising as he recovers from injury..........Ah, now there's a thought Harry definitely wouldn't be for sale would he, if Konsa is on the move

Only if we can have Lookman in on loan!!0

Not sure if I've mangled your point in my head, but are you saying Duchatelet is GOOD at getting the best value for our players?NapaAddick said:If Douche-chatelet was as good at running our club as he is at holding out for the right price in player sales, we would be in the Premier League by now. Because he isn't, he's dreadful.6 -
And that's why Charlton are fucked.Blucher said:An unfortunate statement.

Maybe his resurgence has made them think Konsa is replaceable
Gutted if true as I really think he'll be something special as a cb

Wasn't there a rumour last week that a player / agent was trying to engineer a move and some of us assumed it was Magennis ?0

I wasn't joking Swis, that wasn't a winky smiley, I'm going on the rave reviews Nabby got in the psfs.Swisdom said:

Yes there was...started elsewhere.....and then verified by a few on here.......then refudiated by the club I think, though not certain of that.ShootersHillGuru said:Wasn't there a rumour last week that a player / agent was trying to engineer a move and some of us assumed it was Magennis ?

Credit to @Airman Brown who said last week that there is a £3.5million bid on the table for Konsa. It seems the club value him more highly, which I think is correct.
But I think what Robinson says about a bid coming in that's "over our valuation of a player" is true, and it's not unique to the RD era. Now, most of that "valuation" has been far lower than it should. But we're in League One. It's to our credit that we continue to churn out such good young players as Ade and Konsa, but at our level, in the modern era, it's incredibly hard, if not impossible, to keep hold of good, young English players.6 -
Anyone who still contributes to Valley Gold must be mad.
Even if the money was fully invested back into the playing staff there may be some justification.
