Probably a lot more goal threat though...LargeAddick said:a PL loan would only be a kid with less experience than KAG so I don't see the point.

wtf ??? In the last month we have simply given away 3 players, losing around £3m - 5m in transfer fees !! And KR says we can't afford a decent striker. Our CEO needs lynching.roseandcrown said:
I would say its a give away and we are happy to get his wages off our books.golfaddick said:any mention of a fee for TWWW (undisclosed or otherwise), or is it a loan with a view to a purchase after a tear , or the same as Tex & Cebllos and we basically gave them our player.

I don't think we could have got a fee for Watt. If we paid his contract up, then that is ridiculous, but I don't mind if he left on a free.golfaddick said:

Glad Watts gone, bloke is clearly a fruit loop. Watt to Watch FFS. Desperately need a replacement though and if they have got rid of him without a replacement already lined up then they need shooting.2

When Robinson said he wanted "three nines" did he just mean he wanted another striker just to take the number 27 shirt that is a vacant squad number?
How many seasons have we had where a good striker is something we obviously have needed ? This problem is something that should have been sorted by now if the club is ever going to move forward. Invest now you Belgian twat and you will be able to reap the benefits later but please do not seek the advice of Driesen.1 -
'I've missed you'? I seem to remember him saying he couldn't wait to get out of Belgium when he came here...Henry Irving said:4 -
Did we actually pay a fee for Watt?, it was rumoured that we (RD) stitched SL up, by getting him on a free before selling the club1

John Akinde being linked.1

I doubt we received much of a fee and I very much doubt his new Club would have been able to match his weekly wage with us meaning we'd have to make up the shortfall.cafcfan1990 said:

I don't think it's very likely that a second tier club in Belgium will be paying Watt the wages he was on at Charlton, so it's highly likely he's yet another pay-as-you-go departure.cafcfan1990 said:

Charlton are interested in signing Barnet striker John Akinde, News Shopper understands.
Addicks boss Karl Robinson is looking for a frontman to replace Tony Watt, who joined Belgium club Oud-Heverlee Leuven on the weekend.
And Akinde is one striker who Charlton are keeping tabs on.
Akinde, 28, has been one of League Two’s most prolific forwards in the past two seasons, scoring 50 goals in 96 appearances.
And with Josh Magennis and Lee Novak being Charlton’s only senior strikers, the former Portsmouth man could add much-needed firepower to the squad.
Akinde, who QPR have shown an interest in previously, is currently sidelined with a minor knee injury.
The striker has two years left to run on his contract, and given his impressive goalscoring record for the Bees, the North London club could demand a fee of around £1m.
On Saturday, Robinson spoke about trying to sign a striker before the transfer window shuts.
He said: “We’ve spoken to one or two strikers. For every club from the top of the Premier League to the bottom of the conference, they are looking for a striker to score 20 goals a season.
“So, we’re fishing in the same pond as every other football club. We just hope we find the right one that’s competitive.
“We know there are four or five that we've spoken to who we like. There are two or three where we think we've been out-priced so we won't be chasing them. So we just need to get it right.
“To buy a striker that’s going to score you 25 goals, it’s going to cost £1.5m to £2m - when do you see a team in League One do that?”
Akinde has spent most of his career in League Two and non-league, but has played in the third tier before with Bristol Rovers and Portsmouth.*
* 6 goals in 66 league one appearances with five clubs8 -
Marvelous, is this the fella that in 40 odd games at League One level has scored 3 goals.cafcsinger said:John Akinde being linked.

then thats idiotic. It was only last week or 2 weeks ago that Robinson said there was interest in Watt but it had to be best for the club. How can paying off someone be best for the club. All for letting him go on a free, and it would then be up to him to negotiate his next deal.Airman Brown said:

I am not doubting the fact we paid him off, just think it's ridiculous. To be honest, should not be surprised at all.

I wonder which 1/3rd of Akinde we'll be getting for our £300k then1

I think he's a much better player than when he last played in League 1 though. Not sure if I want him, but if they want 1 million then its not going to happen anyway.HarryLime said:

but he wouldn't accept us letting him go on a free unless he can find a Club to match his wages. When he can't then we have to sweeten the deal. When Robinson says it has to be best for the Club it means taking the most financially acceptable deal, ie the one that saves us the most money over the course of the season. Remember, although we have had to sweeten the deal it will still be saving the Club some money. At least it should but with KM in charge that shouldn't be taken as a given.cafcfan1990 said:

I absolutely think he's worth a contract btw. When He was at Crawley I saw him a couple of times, his play was hardworking, but he was often stuck up top on his own and the attack would breakdown before he was supported.2 -
