Six degress of separation

Most of you will be aware of the six degrees of separation theory:

and the Kevin Bacon film game it inspired:

This game is similar, but based on footballers. The rules are simple - link two named footballers through players who played for the same team at the same time (players who played for the same team but at different times, opponents, 'managed by', owners etc do not count) in as few links as possible.

Please the 'link' teams as well as the players.

For example, Kevin Lisbie to Paolo Maldini could go:

Kevin Lisbie
Charlton
Mark Fish
Lazio
Alessandro Nesta
AC Milan
Paolo Maldini

    Might be able to be done in less steps but:

    - Bartlett played at Charlton with Claus Jensen
    - Jensen played at Bolton with Eidur Gudjohnsen
    - Eidur Gudjohnsen played at Barcelona with Carles Puyol
    - Puyol played at Barcelona with Pep Guardiola
    - Guardiola played at Barcelona with Romario.

    So I was worried that even though their time with the national team overlapped that Onyewu and Gibbs never played together because, ya know, Gibbs. But because I have no life I Googled it and they in fact did play in a friendly together in 2006.

    That be a good un, but if it has to be "played with" rather than "coached by" I don't see how that one is possible.
