Designs for new Valley Gates - Usual regime stuff: good idea ruined by lack of thought and planning

In the usual cack handed club style it's meant to be a consultation but you've got until Friday 13th October (yes, tomorrow) to give them feedback on the designs to an email address they never use or respond to.
But there is a different deadline for the text (next Tuesday) even though the text is dependent on the design
And the anniversary is in 8 weeks time.
And, IMHO, the designs are poor.
From the Trust site
"As part of the Back to the Valley 25th anniversary celebrations the club propose to install new main gates at the stadium.
The club are inviting feedback on the designs below.
If you would like to comment or state a preference (or suggest an alternative wording) please e mail fans@cafc.co.uk
The deadline for comments on gate design and text location is 5pm this Friday 13th October.
The deadline for the actual text is Tuesday 17th at 5pm.
We have expressed our disappointment to the club about the short notice that we have been given us on this as we think it could have been a much more inclusive exercise."
Meanwhile the Sam Bartram Gate still has no sign since the old one fell off.
A

B

C

D

E

Just piss poor all round.

I agree.2

Is there an option F? - throw all those designs away and start again, doing it properly.
They can't even get the words lined up straight FFS19 -
looks like a 12 year olds homework fail23

Piss poor as usual0

A is OK, but with the Middle of C would be OK

D looks really good and scale-able. You know, if you want to get on the pitch at night.28

the wording on A will be meaningless come next year. Not really keen on any of them. D and E are atrocious in my opinion. Any fan input into the designs?3

Compare this design "consultation" with that of Hummel.
The shirt company spoke to dozens of fans face to face at the in September for the shirt that will be released next summer.
They had 6 home and 6 away designs worked up and had the references back to older shirts and colours.
They had four members of staff in the room, asking questions, making notes, taking on board ideas.
Now the club, "Fuck, we better pretend we asked the fans, quick send out an email, we won't be able to pay for the gates anyway but we can tick the consultation box"18 - Sponsored links:

is there room in the museum for the current gates?6

E is good1

I don’t know why they don’t do something in keeping with the way the club is run.54

It's absolutely typical of the way the place is run these days. Fiddle around ineptly with pointless stuff that doesn't really matter in the hope of getting some easy PR wins. All the while, what really matters - the actual bloody football team, is left to limp along, underfunded and undermanned as usual.
The idiots that run our club aren't even good enough to get on 'The Apprentice'.3 -
Should flood the provided email address with pictures of Gareth Gates seen as the club will never bother opening a single email addressed there anyway.6
-
I'll vote for whichever one Katrien leaves by, never to return!!
I'd have included Roly in that statement, but he'd have to have actually been here to walk out!17 -
The club will go with option D and moan when people climb over it
Anyway, the only gate I'm interested in, is the one they close when they walk out the door..!!5 -
they should concentrate on giving the fans something to be proud of on the pitch touched on it before, 25 years great but if this mob carry on there wont be a 50th celebration.1

But doesn't actually mention the anniversery it is meant to be markingRedhenry said:E is good

maybe our new sponsors could be microsoft so we could call them the ...... .....Gates2

As the gates are open when most people see them, the option of a design where the message is not split in half would be nice...7
-
Surely the badge should be the significant feature in any design. All designs look cheap and nasty. There are people on here that could do a better mock up in 30 minutes.7
-
What are the gates commenmorating?
The Valley?
The Valley's address?
A song we sing?
Or the return to the Valley?
"5 December 1992"
That is all that is needed.9 -
I sent this e-mail:
"As the gates are open when the vast majority of people see them, would it not be a good idea to have a design option where the message is not split in two when they are open?
As anniversary gates, any design not incorporating the date is clearly not appropriate.
3 days for people to give feedback is nowhere near enough, there should be at least one home game in which to get the message across to all fans."

and that is really saying something considering the idiots on it this yearMissed It said:It's absolutely typical of the way the place is run these days. I emailed them, I got the usual auto response, I asked them to do a proper consultation with fans on the design to get it right as those offered were shockers.
I expect not to hear from them again.
At least I'll know where the Konsa money will have been spent.1 -
A very small chunk of the Konsa money, by the looks of those.HarryLime said:I emailed them, I got the usual auto response, I asked them to do a proper consultation with fans on the design to get it right as those offered were shockers.

They are appropriate for Katrien's Wendy House though0 -
I assume these gates will be on one side of the club shop?
The problem with gates there, is that on matchdays, they'll be fully open and nobody will see them anyway unless the message is over the top, and not on the opening section, as with the Shankly Gates
