A good evening. Both KR & LB came over well and KR really does have a buzz about him - just a shame there are a lot of stayaways otherwise he could really have the full support of the fans.

Heard a few home truths and reasons why certain players aren't around anymore. Also why Roger Johnson suddenly re-appeared : He got injured whilst under KR's tenure & so KR thought he had a duty of care to rehabilitate him & get him fit. No other motive or agenda & shows what type of bloke we have as a manager - maybe not quite in the mould of Curbs or SCP, but getting there IMO.
  • I’m gutted I missed last night. Too late getting home.
Hopefully I will be there next time.

Don't really know Petts Wood. Is there an acceptable way to get to this place by public transport from sunny Sidcup?

As a matter of interest.....don’t you drive?
I do, but if I'm going to spend the evening in the company of @Henry Irving then I'm going to need a drink :-)
A stiff drink, along with a stiff neck for you AFKA.

Was a very enjoyable evening. I've always been a fan of his, but doubt if anyone who is not still would not have enjoyed listening to Robbo last night.

What was really good as well was seeing them walking into a full room, so well done for everyone who turned up and well done Bromley Addicks for putting on.

If you missed last night and have easy access to London, I recommend getting along to City Addicks in 10 days and keeping this recent run of Q&As well supported.

Sorry I missed this as wanted to go but a family bereavement the day before meant I wasn’t really in the mood. Look forward to the next one.
  • For those not there, Robinson had just said "we have a serious problem with a lack of height", and with perfect comic timing my fellow vertically challenged @ElfsborgAddick walked that exact moment out of the toilet door next to the stage and across the front of everyone, looked bemused, everyone fell about laughing and Robbo said "sorry mate"

Was up there with when Uncle Albert walked in front of the comedian and he started to go "hiiii hooooo"

    It was very funny tbf.

The meeting was upstairs but while waiting for them I saw Lee walking passed the window back to the car park.

I went out and found them walking in. Lee had seen the dozen or so people downstairs and thought that was it.

Had to tell them, no there's a packed room waiting for you upstairs.

Karl gave a really good "Chris Powell'esque" speech at the end of the evening.

Thoroughly enjoyable evening with some great stories told and passion shown by both Karl and Lee. Sat on the table with Seb at the back of the room, found out he is now on 943 consecutive games with Truro on Sunday being 944, unbelievable record and that dedication shown by him is second to none.

If I was to have one minor criticism, it would be there were a few of us nearer the back that had questions that were not given a chance to ask, maybe we were harder to see in a very busy and well supported room, but overall it is very enjoyable with some great insight into the club.

Some questions were quite similar but Karl done a great job at answering all of them very well and with detail, often using a story to go along with a situation he was explaining, talking about Sam Allardyce a bit, it shows how highly regarded he is by Karl and fellow managers in this country.

He feels that there is a real possibility that’s Ezri Konsa could leave in January but if he was to, it’s so important for us and for him to have him back on loan for the rest of the season.

What Robinson said about Naby Sarr was a joy to hear, he obviously had a tough time at the beginning of his career at Charlton but he said that Naby spoke to him saying he doesn’t feel as if he has done himself or the club justice, we paid a lot of money for him and he wants to be here, he wants to learn and he just wants to be given a fair go. Karl said the hardest part at the moment is having to tell him that he isn’t starting on a Saturday.

If I remember rightly, the team for Sunday is Phillips, Solly, Konsa, Sarr, Dasilva, Forster-Caskey, Jackson, Holmes, Reeves, Marshall, Dodoo.

I think it was clear to everyone that Dodoo isn’t going to be kept on in January. Karl said something along the lines of “It was so late in the day, and he was a body”. We never wanted Novak to leave but he essentially forced a moved with 5 hours to go “as he wasn’t prepared to play second fiddle to Josh”. We still have Leon Best, who is playing against QPR U23s next week Friday. If we want to sign him, we can.

Robinson said we need around 3 players in January, a striker, midfielder and a number 2 to allow Phillips to go out on loan and play. But that’s easier said than done as no goalkeeper really wants to just be a number 2. He is having a meeting with a striker’s agent today I believe he said to see about getting him in January. We also tried to get BWP back in the summer but he is enjoying scoring goals in the US.

Feels the group we have now is no comparison to what we had last season, they’re all friends, they’re all great people and all have fantastic attitude. It definitely feels similar to the promotion season under Powell in that respect.

Karl said he doesn’t get involved in the other side of the club, he totally understands why people choose not to come to games and that’s their prerogative. He is a football manager and just wants to concentrate on doing his job and pulling us in the right direction. He said he hasn’t spoken to Roland for about 3 months and didn’t get a text back from him when he last text him over a month ago. He did say that can be a good thing sometimes as the owner of MK Dons used to call him up at 2am in the morning.

Fantastic longer finishing speech at the end of the meeting by Karl and I really feel that he is 100% the best person for us right now. He may not be Charlton through and through but he shows the passion and I think he is really starting to ‘get us’.

One last mention is the part when @ElfsborgAddick came out the toilet, it’s already been told but that was very funny and perfect timing.

Well done to all and those who arranged it, it was a very good evening so thank you.

  • Very enjoyable evening. It was nice to hear Karl was being left to get on with the job and had not spoken to the owner for 3 months. Well we haven't seen him for 3 years , lets hope its a sign that he now wants to sell up

It's great to hear such positive comments from those there. But playing devils advocate and bearing in mind I haven't seen us play at all this season and last season was utter dross from start to finish. Are we not getting carried away with KR? We have had imbeciles running the team since Powell left. We now have a normal competent manager who's got us to a position we should be in and that's great based on what's gone on previously. Parky had a worse squad and got us within a penalty kick of a playoff final. Powell had a squad that some think was not as good as this current one and absolutely pissed this league, although I maintain that squad was infinitely better. I'm not saying KR isn't a decent manager and doing a decent job but we've been starved of a normal management team for so long now he looks like the messiah when all he's done is get us in and around where we should expect to be. Time will tell.

Maybe if you watched us play, you would understand, although I appreciate you don't want to until RD sells.
