David Gold has admitted developing young players isn't part of their strategy.Ross said:The so-called 'Academy of Football'.
Who was the last player they produced that was any good? Noble or Reid maybe?
Even their highly rated youngsters like Burke and Oxford are out on loan, and Freddie Sears who was meant to be the next best thing disappeared to Colchester before re-appearing at Ipswich.

So the West Ham board have given their full and 100% backing to Moyes by gibing him a long term contract - to the end of the season!
So, what happens in the window - they are hardly going to back a manager who is likely not to be here next season. And how will the players react with the same knowledge? Because it's more their ineptitude/attitude that has got them in this situation.0 -
He needs to have a word with Roland, on how to run a football club.SouthWest_Addicks said:

Yes, Noble and Tompkins seem to be the last players to come through, and neither are of the level of the Cole/Lampard/Carrick generationRoss said:The so-called 'Academy of Football'.

So? 19 of the 22 players in the England squad in '66 weren't West Ham but that doesn't stop them banging on and on and on about winning the World bleedin' Cup does it?ricky_otto said:

Winston Reid was bought when he was about 22.0

Good article on Moyes. Highlights big mistakes at Sunderland with poor recruitment and tactics being questioned by Defoe.
If he fails then the owners should hold their head in shame. Heard Ancelotti, Bentinez and Macini turned them down.

He has kept hold of ten flats from the Upton Park development for 'academy mums'.

Moyes signed a 6 year contract at Utd, since then he has also managed Real Sociedad and Sunderland and now signs a 2 1/2 year contract at West Ham. I reckon he'll be gone before those six years are up (May 2019)!1

The thing is, for anyone under 50, losing most games by playing the long ball is the West Ham wayDaddy_Pig said:Should keep Bilic if only because its getting like ground hog day down there.
Had Pardew. FA cup final. Typical Pardew bad run. Wanted him gone. He weren't the West Ham way.
They had Curbishley. Comfortably mid-table. Wanted him gone. Not the West Ham way.
They had Zola. Was shit. Not the West Ham way.
Had Avram Grant. Was shit. Not the West Ham way.
Had Fat Sam. Comfortably mid table. Wanted him gone. Not the West Ham way.
Desperately wanted Bilic. Want him gone. Not the West Ham way.8 -

Big aspirations from the Hammers because I am confident that Bilic would have kept them up and cost them nothing to do so. And Bilic would have been out of contract too.1 -
BBC reported yesterday a 2 1/2 year contract with an optional break at the end of the season. I apologise on their behalf. Either way he'll still be gone before his 6 years at Utd would have been up.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

Great start by David Moyes.
Six months out of the game, and he hasn’t lost his relegation touch.
The West Ham team looked really motivated by his management style.
West Ham probably look the worst team in the premiership.
With their run of games they could be bottom by Christmas.3 -
They were hopeless today. Great to see.6

That's a really tough one for us though - which one between West Ham or Palace to be bottom of the PL!!!Billericay Dickie said:Great start by David Moyes.

Palace and West Ham both in the bottom three in May would be fantastic.Addick Addict said:

If wet spam join them all well and good but if not I couldn't really care.
Palace going down has to be number one priority.18 -
Dunno... they had their chances and could have been 2-1 up before Half Time only for Gomes to make a few outstanding saves including a double in injury time which seemed impossible.bolloxbolder said:They were hopeless today. Great to see.
Like with Sunderland there is something wrong with the players and the way the club is ran rather than it being David Moyes' style of Management, reckon at the right club he could rebuild his reputation but it wont be at West Ham0 -
Loved hearing the bubble blowers chanting " Sack the Board" today !4

I realise West Ham may have made them look good but I thought Watford played some nice football today.0
