Comes as no surprise from a party that campaigned partly on bringing back that genteel pastime of hunting an animal to exhaustion before gleefully watching it get torn to pieces. Animals to them are nothing more than commodities to be used, consumed and abused as they see fit. Makes you wonder why Gove is ensuring there are cameras in every slaughterhouse. Surely the animals that pass through those gates of hell can be treated however seen fit if they don’t think nor feel.

And worse - look at paragraph 4 - the freezing of bank accounts and deportation before any appeal. Sound familiar?

So me agreeing that non-EU nationals, living in Britain illegally, should be deported is 'sticking up for Brexit'? Really? Think you might need a lie down.Algarveaddick said:

I have no issue with deporting people that are here illegally.2 -

Yes. I genuinely do think that there's a huge, "I won't happen to me!" factor in Leavers thinking.Algarveaddick said:And worse... http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/brexit-eu-charter-fundamental-rights-commons-uk-eu-defeat-a8068326.html
Do you think Brexiters believe they are going to be immune from this shit fest?
I pointed out many times pre-referendum the advantages we benefit from by being in the EU in terms of consumer rights, food safety/standards, product safety, employees rights, environmental protections, etc. Leavers just do not want to acknowledge these benefits and, if there was any response at all, it would be along the lines of "we can have our own laws around these things then!".
Which is true but ignored several important factors; EU law/regulation is in my experience far superior in its aims and effectiveness than the dogs dinners our domestic legislators seem to produce in these areas, our businesses will still have to comply with EU legislation if they want to tap into the world's biggest single market on our doorstep and that the lobbyists for business are going to have a field day buttering up the government to get the concessions they've wanted, leaving us as consumers, employees, etc in a far worse position than before.
All this was even before the disgrace of allowing individual ministers to make those decisions became policy, which I didn't think even this lot of snake oil salesmen would be able to sucker the public into accepting.10 -

What Brexit really means seems sometimes to have more interpretations than there are atoms in the universe.
Eventually what Brexit becomes will be revealed eventually bit by bit.
So when it is announced, the brexiters can dance in celebration at the prospect of blue passports, whilst others will weep when it is announced that Brexit ushers in the legitimisation of further cruelty to animals.

Just to be clear, you're saying that, instead of having £350m extra cash to spend, we have to find £57m a week is "nothing to be afraid of"?Valiantphil said:1 -

The Chancellor announced the additional cost of £3bn. So, again, let me suggest that voting for a windfall of £350m and, instead of getting it, receiving a bill of £57m, is probably worth being "afraid of", on balance. Although, as you brought up the issue of "the children", maybe we should we just leave it to them to worry about, like every other part of the self-inflicted economic chaos that is being brought about by Brexit.Valiantphil said:
