Warner injures his neck whilst winding it in.

When fully fit he probably is of those selected. Not as consistently fast as say Finn, Wood, Mills or even Meaker but he's capable of decent pace and is quicker than Anderson and Broad now.

i would have probably taken Meaker tbh

Having watched him a lot this year I wouldnt have. When fit and confident he is unplayable but so much of it is in his head. Could get destroyed if his head dropped. Regularly injured as well. On his day he is one of the best county bowlers. Unfortunately its happening less than it needs to.

Overton is a nasty piece of work, want him nowhere near the team

Sounds like most of the Australian team.

The surveillance story is funny (in hindsight!).
  • I see Warner and Marsh could be out.
  • Saw a stat this morning that Australia haven't lost a test at the GABBA since 1988. That's incredible!

A draw in the 1st test would be a great start
  • Anybody else doing it like me......watching via BT on laptop.
Don't know what/how, but no doubt i'll find out tonight - i'm an hour ahead, so I might have an early night and get up at 4 to watch the middle session before going to work

I think a draw would seriously damage the aussie camp, the Gabba is almost a home banker for them so any result other than a win won't go down well

It would be if we can then win the day/nighter in more 'English' conditions in the 2nd test.

Warner is a loss for them. Marsh could be a blessing for them.

So so excited for this. The best thing is my team leader (line managers line manager) loves cricket as much as I do so it's acceptable to come into work tired from having been watching it all night.

We already have plans to watch the last session of the day night test at work.
  • I have thought all along that we'll get stuffed, but having seen the Aussie squad, optimism has set in.

If we can get out of the 1st test with s draw, I think we'll be able to put them under a bit of pressure in the day/night test under more suited conditions.

1st test is key to how the series will go

I was up at 7am this morning, I played an hours tennis at altitude (well Shooters Hill), I had a stressful morning preparing papers for a meeting with my accountant at lunchtime, thankfully the meeting was far from stressful in fact it was very productive. I then did the early evening shift at work, and all this without taking a nap. I always have an afternoon nap. I am now knackered, but once I've finished cooking my wifes dinner (around 8pm) I am going to bed. I will tune the old DAB clock radio to 5LiveXtra which has Ashes programmes on all night. I will wake up at 10.30pm and be all ready for my Aussie neighbour to arrive at about 11am and a long and hopefully exciting night ahead.
