    About time, Cobbles.

We've had to talk about Charlton's classic fightback against Norwich in 1967.

    3-3 in the last minute.

    Roland out

Six points behind 5th, Wigan next, looks like this takeover talk is affecting everyone.

    Thanks Roland ... just go.

    I don't know about takeover.

More like overtaker ...... other teams are overtaking us, as we drop to 8th.

After the inevitable defeat at Wigan this Friday, we have three games against struggling sides which will decide how this season goes. A month ago we would have looked at them as nine points for the taking but on current form that's less likely. But unless we can get at least five or six points from the matches then the rest of the campaign will be about where in the middle of the table we finish ... and another four months of depression ... the on-field wheels are, again, coming off this club.
  • Crap owner, crap manager, crap display.

Merry Christmas to the Charlton team and management.

Hope you are looking forward to the Wigan game as much as the fans are.....

Absolute shit. Southend have been on crap form but knew we were vulnerable and killed us off in 15 minutes. We began like it was a friendly.

Had a nice spell at the start of the 2nd half apparently but I had to wait half hour for a beer. It was a smart goal but Southend had sat back and picked us off again easily.

The only positive was Holmes being back but that just meant we gave the ball to him too much and he got double marked as usual.

I look forward to signing a couple of free transfers and loanees in January and being told we were unlucky not to sign a proper forward.
  • Utter shit result, season is in serious danger of petering out
  • Desperately trying to find a positive but really can’t.

Playoffs looking way off our capabilities for another season yet again.

Only glimmer of light is the alleged takeover.

    Joke club at this moment.

The first half is up there with the worst I’ve ever seen. Defensively we were absolutely dreadful.

2nd half was better. Holmes and Reeves got us moving forwards.

Dijksteel at RB is suicide. Personally would have put Konsa RB and AD in centre mid after Kashi (who was appalling) went off.

Magennis, offers us nothing. Holmes is a greedy f@cker but is the only one who takes, the game to the oppo.

Robinson will say we were the better team in the 2nd half, and he would be right. What he won’t say is that Konsa and Sarr can’t play together and that he needs to stop with the 4-2-3-1 shit.

I walked out of the ground and actually didn’t give a shit about the result. I accept that we are crap and will continue to be so until ownership changes.
  • On way back from Roots Hall...

Absolute shite. No one showed up for the first 30mins. Slow build up play, no imagination, predictable from set pieces and now we can’t defend.

All of them were shit but Magennis if f@@king useless.

In the car on the way back now.

Bar a positive 20 mins around when we scored, that was totally and utterly shit.

I liked Kag's effort, but he is never going to be goal scorer and therefore will never play above this level. Holmes as always tried and tried, but didn't have much of an end product today. Reeves was ok in the 2nd half, but totally ineffective in the 1st.

Everyone else was useless. Magennis, Kashi and Sarr deserve to be dropped, but we've not got anyone else because of this fuckwit owner killing our club.

As someone said on the match thread, that jolly to Newcastle is starting to look less and less like a good idea.
  • First 10 minutes were pathetic, opening goal was Sunday league defending, everyone standing around watching whilst cox put the ball in. Vice verca for the second goal.

I think this is the 10th league game in a row in which we have conceded the opening goal.

Defence looked very inexperienced, they didn't look like they fancied the up and under from southend. Southend have a particular style, not easy to watch, but is very effective. Every ball went down the channels.

We huffed and puffed in the second half but we rarely had any clear cut chances.

Harry Lennon was a positive, looked a handful and was happy to attack the ball in both boxes. IMO he was our best player.

Overall, absolutely pathetic, well and truely beaten by a stronger, smarter and effective outfit. On that showing, top 6 looks highly unlikely.

He did. He had a poor game. Showed some bits of skill, but only after he had dug himself a hole and needed to get out of it. He should not be playing RB.

Wasn't great on Saturday. No other option?

Konsa is a better bet at RB imo.
  • Was thinking watching while watching the Premier League matches the other day what a team we would have if we kept Pope,Shelvey,Lookman,Gudmunson,Etc and all the other class players we let go we would be in the Premier League right now

We got to see the PL stars of the future
  • It was a nice dream anyway
  • Sad times to be a Charlton fan. Little clubs like Southend & Gillingham shouldn't beat us (easily) in what is the closest we have to Derby games this season. Especially embarrasing when this is the weakest Southend side for years.

Makes you realise how far we have fallen when you compare our strike force of Mag & KAG to what Southend have in Cox, Ranger & Fortune.

  • After the failures of the relegation season and then last season it was essential that we avoided a third straight bad year. Well, 2017/2018 started with promise but early hopes are now all but drained away, and what is left? A club enfeebled by incompetent management, left directionless by a prolonged takeover saga, a team rudderless on the pitch - Mike Bailey, Mark Kinsella, where are you now? - and a roster shredded by injury and plummeting confidence.

The old regime lies gasping its last - new owners, please be swift and decisive to do what has long been beyond our present ownership. Staunch as ever, all true Addicks are up for the challenge. We just need you to give us the lead, and put an end to this purgatory. Now, please, before it's too late.
