"The football clubhouse, its management and players have throughout this administration operated with a gaping void above them".
Never a truer word written, @Grapevine49.
Surely this must also be the case for the office staff based at both The Valley and Sparrows Lane.
And a Board consisting of 3 members with one invariably AWOL says it all.
What a total shambles our football club has become !
The foundations/ the building blocks, once secure and safe as, well, houses, under the responsible eye of a true CEO have since begun to crumble and the threat of wholesale subsidence looms unless some serious underpinning is carried out now. Even a past, once respected Master Builder appears to be burying his head in the sand that is slowly but surely trickling out of the very walls.
For my part, I see-saw between the optimism of a positive post from those likely to be ITK and the pessimism engendered by repeated reports of RD's insistence in demanding his euro of flesh from the club & its "customers" that have dared to stand up to him and, although he'd never admit it, embarrassed him in his home town.
Who will rid us of this turbulent "piece" of ....( insert your own definition) ?
And, until that Day of Reckoning dawns, do we, the faithful, still have anyone with the best interests of our club behind the barricades ?
On Tuesday evening, one of our undisputed Legends made his way through the Millenium Lounge, smiling & shaking hands with those who caught his eye as he always does whilst making time for as many in attendance as possible. @GlassHalfFull remarked that he did look a little weary but, as in his playing days, we knew could be relied upon to do what he does best.....How apt is the title he now proudly carries ?
Yes, one man fits this role like a glove and is a credit to our, and his, beloved football club.
Take a bow, Keith Peacock. Mr Charlton Athletic.
ALL of the allegedly interested investors would benefit greatly from talking with this much respected Addick and by doing so would learn far more about Charlton Athletic than they could ever glean from the accounts and the history books.
And in doing so would learn without the shadow of doubt that this is one very special football club that deserves one very special caretaker to guide it onwards & upwards.25 -
You'd hope so. I'm never gonna give it up and hopefully any new owners wouldn't let us down.Scoham said:

A full commitment's what I'm thinking of when it comes to a new owner, not 1.5% of his time.Callumcafc said:

This Belgium tosser has no idea whom he is dealing with.
When he sells, he's gone.
When he's gone, some of us will never forget.

CAFC only 66 to 1 for relegation with Betway. Be VERY afraid.2

I now have a very bad feeling about this, because it has very strong echoes of his sale of Standard. That too turned into a protracted affair of several months. The Standard Socios remain convinced that he "emptied the bank account of €30m before he left". I have admittedly had difficulty coaxing out of them the hard evidence that ought to exist for such a claim, although they did show that the Staprix accounts in 2014 showed very little cash in the company. He had previously taken a €20 dividend. In the run up to the final sale, (to a buyer with modest investment funds) several good players were sold, and the squad was so inadequate after the takeover that Standard initially sank to the bottom of a league they have never, ever, been relegated from.
I fear that when RD has spoken of showing people he can make a financial success of football, his only measure is whether he himself as the investor walks away with a profit. It is all he cares about and he probably thinks that is how his peer group will evaluate it too. He walked away from Standard with a tidy profit. I fear that what we are now seeing is a very similar process as players are suddenly sold. Quite what the potential buyers make of this, no one seems to know. Perhaps they should have called Bruno Venanzi in Liege and asked him.
Grim, grim times.33 -

Apparently Venanzi didn't have the full asking price for Standard, so an agreement was struck whereby Duchâtelet received further payments over a number of years. He installed his friend Bob Claes to make sure the payments were met.PragueAddick said:I now have a very bad feeling about this, because it has very strong echoes of his sale of Standard. One of several tricks Duchâtelet was alleged to have pulled, was grabbing a couple of players from his mate (puppet?) Bart Lammens at STVV, taking them to Standard where they were sold on, thus ensuring Venanzi had the cash to pay the bill.

Reading all this scary stuff about RD can people really worry about McLeish's consortium not being worthy. Get this cancer out of our club and let the jocks take control and give us back a united CAFC8

It's incredibly boring and irksome that you were all right all along. You shouldn't have been. So much doom-mongering and bitterness! But really the whole time he was exactly the awful dork twat who fucks dead whatever football he touches and doesn't have the remotest clue about human empathy that you all said he was13

Anybody who has football at the centre of their plans no matter how "minted" they are is a step in the right direction for me. Everyone goes on about they need to have this amount or that. Plenty of clubs have proved you don't need hundreds of millions to get on and plenty have proved even if you do it doesn't guarantee success. Football people trying to advance the team and keeping the fans on board is better than this.Taxi_Lad said:Reading all this scary stuff about RD can people really worry about McLeish's consortium not being worthy. Absolutely this. In this very division, both Shrewsbury and AFCW prove your point.Nug said:

So when is Murray going to start his more active role? Other than sporting a new set of specs what has he done since Meire jumped ship? Come on Murray slide out from under that rock you are hiding, you old snake. Tell us what is going on and stop allowing Robinson to take your flak at press conferences, he's got the job of trying to get the team winning again. What are you doing other than assist strip for your new best mate.30

was my biggest fear of it all, its one thing when you have to sell because of cash , but when its because wounded and a complete vindictive scroat like he is its proper recipe for disaster,
theres many twist and turns to be had , dont lose hope or faith but just have patience we are closer today to being sold than we were yesterday but we are a long long way from being Sold
