I would like RM to be sat next to Robbo when he meets the press on Thursday.
It would be the right thing for him to do IMO and I believe it is an acceptable way to communicate with us, the fans. The press can be relied upon to ask pertinent questions and to report what is said.
If RM does this or something very similar I would imagine CARD will call it all off. The ball is with RM.21 -
You really need clarity on that? I can save you the trouble.Henry Irving said:
None of which has been said by the club and unless they read Charlton Life most fans would be unaware of that.nth london addick said:Only 5 days ago two potential interested parties held talks with the club
There have been 3 others that are more than interested
What more is there that you need to know
Airman has been updating Redhenry has we have heard far more than we really should or needed to
What else do you really expect to hear
No one expects names or numbers but some sort of update and some clarity on what happens to the Holmes, and if it happens, Konsa fees would be a start.
It starts with Roland's and ends in pocket.2 -

And where will be the potential be sat whilst eating or drinking before the game, right where the protests will be. Mind you getting in the car park wont be any good for your game of cardsMuttleyCAFC said:If I wanted to buy the club - a) I would want to buy despite being fully aware of previous protests - they have been widely reported across the globe and b) I would welcome any attempts by the fans to persuade the owner to sell at a fair price. Seems like common sense to me.
And as has been stated - if we are told that negotiations are at an advanced stage, that would be something. I don't think people are asking for all the details. If we feel/believe the club will be sold soon, then there won't be any actions - but none of us trust Duchatelet and for very good reason. He is a pathological liar and scumbag without any doubt - and I am probably being too nice saying that!0 -
what can Murray tell the protesters, he does not own the club or put money into the club. I doubt Roland tells him very much about the take over if such is happening or if and when Roland sells players. Roland is an autocrat and feels he answers to no one.0
-
Would have been happy to support this protest but as I am exercising my Valley absence, I had already bought tickets to another match and so won't be there. Good luck all ... #RolandOut0

If i was Richard Murray I would come out and address you all, in fact I will write Mr Murray’s speech for him.
Thanks for turning up and showing interest in our great club. We are in the process of due diligence with a number of consortiums and have signed confidentiality agreements with them, therefore we cannot coment on the takeover or anything concerning the running of the club or it financial transactions at this time.
Good afternoon and enjoy the game.

It was only but a few months ago we were being told that there was to be a takeover within the week, nothing come of it, ask yourself a question would you buy a club with a toxic crowd at the front door ?JamesSeed said:

The reality is certain people have let it die by arranging boycotts and protests, it comes as no consequence that the club has been put up for sale after there has been no demonstrations. But there won't be a great atmosphere in the ground. It's dying in there. Crowds are dwindling and that will only accelerate as Duchatelet sells the talent and refuses to sanction decent replacements. The whole club is irretrievably toxic under Duchatelet and he knows it, which is partly why he's looking for the exit route. A buyer will see the potential, including from the fans, and base a buying decision on that.WhenIwasLittleBoy said:
Do you really think that they will give you answers with people outside shouting. The only thing that will happen is that you prove that the club is currently toxic and if i was a buyer wouldn't touch it with a ten foot barge pole. Flip it to have a great atmosphere in the ground, and buyers would see the club as a good investment rather than anarchy in the car park wearing black and white.Charlton_Stu said:
Maybe just maybe it will force someone from the club apart from Robinson to make a statement about what's going on, even if it's before Saturday, as i'm sure they (club) wouldn't like a scene.WhenIwasLittleBoy said:So we have potential buyers of the club at the game on Saturday and then CARD come along with a pointless exercise as i think it is fair to say that not one person from the club will come out and make a statement, all what will happen is make a potential buyer think twice, surely it would be better to get behind the team, create an atmosphere and potential buyers thinking we could have something good here.
Imagine selling a house would you let potential buyers view your property when the noisy neighbours are in or out. No logic whatsoever and will get no thanks from the management team.1 -

They would know they can get a quick win with the crowd by getting rid of Roland.13 -
Some people on this thread appear to have short memories.
Aside from the Woolwich meeting in February 2015, for the first 22 months of this regime fans effectively restricted themselves to muttering under their breaths and moaning to each other. In that time the regime sold many of our best players, shipped in inadequate replacements, and went through 5 managers. The policy was to employ overseas players, coaches and scouts who had little or no experience of the English game. The videos of the Fans Forum and the Fans Q&A show how little regard the board had for their “customers”.
Have things improved since then? I would say “yes”. Relegation was a result of the policies stated above. Following fan protests the regime has employed more appropriate playing and backroom staff. Too little, too late in my view, but at least it has happened, and we mercifully did not suffer a 2nd relegation last season.
Would these changes have happened without the protests? I very much doubt it.
Roland has a history of asset stripping when he passes over ownership of his clubs. He retained rights to a % of TV income, player sales and ticket sales to pay off their debt to him when STVV was sold in 2011. He also awarded himself a €10M dividend shortly before the sale of Standard Liège was announced in 2015, to be paid over the next 5 years. I think it does no harm at all to remind Roland we, the protesters are still here. It might discourage him from seeking a deal whereby he retains The Valley, for example. And if it encourages potential buyers to “sup with a long spoon”, then in my opinion this is to the long-term benefit of the club we all love, whether we are protesters or ostriches.28 -

I get it. What I don't get is why you think Murray still has some credibility?rikofold said:Interesting thread this. Some people get it, others don't. What I'd suggest to the latter is that it helps to look beyond the moment in terms of what it's trying to achieve.
Simply we have a self-appointed conduit with the fans who is notably absent at a time when it's most needed. The issue isn't what he says or doesn't as much as whether he really is prepared to put himself out for supporters who are putting themselves out to hear him. It might be inconvenient, it might be uncomfortable, but you can't be a relationship manager just when things are cosy.
His alignment to this regime has lost him pal his brownie points and he is heavily tainted. He has a lot to lose here if he plays it wrong, but if he wants to regain even a small piece of the ground he's lost he's gonna have to face up isn't he?
This is a very clever and timely move from CARD, and a reminder that fans still have a voice and will use it when the piss is being taken out of them. I mean, honestly, how much debt is really managed by these sales that wouldn't be addressed with promotion if the money was put back into the squad?
Tainted? The fellas covered in it.0 -
The key is to understanding it. It will hardly be a surprise to them, unless you think the protests have managed to sneak under the radar of publicity. Frankly you seem to be arguing for the sake of it mate. If protests were going to drive buyers away, noone would be at the table, would they.WhenIwasLittleBoy said:

If potential new owners are unaware of the problems at Charlton then I am not sure they are going to be any better than the Pratt who owns us at the moment.WhenIwasLittleBoy said:So we have potential buyers of the club at the game on Saturday and then CARD come along with a pointless exercise as i think it is fair to say that not one person from the club will come out and make a statement, all what will happen is make a potential buyer think twice, surely it would be better to get behind the team, create an atmosphere and potential buyers thinking we could have something good here.

Great idea CARD...if I can get there I will...!!!
Can't help thinking that someone from the club is now frantically on the blower looking for cheap Bouncy Castle Hire,a beat the Keeper net,Hook a Duck stall & a Coconut shy...roll up roll up kids for day in the car park before game...

The new owners of Leyton Orient have been quoted as saying that the energy and imagination of the protests was one of the things which encouraged them to buy the club.21

I still don’t get why it’s so important that someone who is widely known for telling lies is the person you want to tell you the truth now

Interesting this one.
A statement promised but thus far nothing. The smart move for Murray would be to head off this protest and demand by making a statement as promised.
I’m not going to hold my breath on a statement before or on Saturday.2 -
Then what’s the point mate even if it’s to drag Murray out to face the press what he says needs to be taken with the proverbial
It seems a pointless and senseless waste of energy and time , on the back of two straight wins and a point off the play offs , bitch face has gone the old bstd is selling
Things are on the up it’s time to enjoy it a bit more surely1 -

No one is arguing, i think its called being objective, we cant all be sheep, and IMO i cannot see the point of protesting when A You are not going to get any answers and B There could be potential buyers there on Saturday. If anything it does more harm than good, however certain people know best and the rest don't. It happens the same is happening at Newcastle, Ashely is not buying players as he trying to sell the club, and once again as stated in a previous post whilst under DD you cannot disclose any information to a third party, be it if you are buying a football club or another business. It is only when DD has been done, and then that is when the real negotiations will commence in terms of the price.rikofold said:
