Mine are also sealed; but with a slightly knowing smile forming at the edges, a hint of a smirk breaking out, leading to an involuntary raising of the right hand in a sort of an acknowledging wave, which in turn causes a minuscule nod of the head.

The picture you should be getting is that annoying smug look only politicians can adopt as they push through reporters on the way into Downing Street on the first day of a new Government. You know, the face you would really like to punch.

    Again and again.

Also means I know f**k all about anything. Ever.

Or he was just speaking to the staff who were on site that day. I'm sure the club employ a lot of people part-time, especially for match days, so he's not really going to be able to tell everyone all at once. There was probably a follow-up email.

Given Murray said basically the same thing to the Trust nary a fortnight ago, I don't think is is part of some larger witch hunt to root out the leakers.

He spoke to staff at the Valley one week and then at Sparrows Lane, who were gathered on an IT training course of some sort, the following week.

Dear God. Please not Red Bull.

    Would really be RIP Charlton.

RD is slowly killing the club, RB would be a quick death of Charlton. There will be a club with a similar name in a different ground and different kit but it won't be Charlton. Not to me anyway.

That would be it for football for me.

I know it's just one dodgy Twitter account but I cannot emphasise enough how bad this will be.

Give me Charlton in the champions league and i think i'd live with the little RB in front of our name

But you wouldn't have Charlton in the Champions League. You'd have the London iteration of a global energy drink marketing project in the Champions League.

I know they're highly unlikely to be involved, but if they were I'd want to look closely at their plans for the club.

Football, or at least the Premier League, is becoming increasingly over-commercialised, and with Facebook's future involvement only likely to fuel things further, who knows what the future may hold. And in a future when people will possibly have more leisure time (one way or another), the entertainment and sports industries are only likely to grow.

I heard a year or so back that Corbyn's team want some sort of inquiry into the way football changing, and claim they want to do something about it. You can argue that they're just saying anything to win votes, but at least someone has said something.

Alternatively, the Prem is the best league in the world, so leave well alone.

No, it's not Red Bull. But the thread has now (for at least the fifth time) wandered onto the merits or otherwise of Red Bull.

Well, I don't necessarily think so. For all its myriad faults, the FA/general English football governing bods tend to realise that original brand importance (for want of a less clunky phrase) is pretty important.

Look at what happened with "Hull City Tigers" - met with outrage and the fans were backed by pretty much everyone.

While we'd likely see the Red Bull Valley (because let's face it we don't need to move out of the Valley nor would it make financial sense), and maybe some form of bovine motif, the identify of the club wouldn't be changed much - because people wouldn't allow it to change.

Think to the Leeds crest, we'd probably be safe there - and other such.

That said, I'd feel uncomfortable if it were Red Bull and we "bought" our success etc.

Im in the know and I can now tell you that I heard it is The God, Jesus and Lordy oh Lordy Consultium that has bought the club. It’s going to be a hell exciting season. No more Sunday kick offs and I’m sure we will get the rub off the green. You can say you’ve heard it here first.

99.9% of all football success is bought.

I know it's just one dodgy Twitter account but I cannot emphasise enough how bad this will be.

Would it be though? They wouldn't be able to change the name, that's been established. Cardiff's mad owner tried changing the kit, and he had shit all luck with that and changed it back; even he knew he'd crossed a line. Maybe the ground would become the Red Bull Valley, maybe we'd move, but I think we have to accept being based where we are that one day there's a serious chance an owner will try and move us to the Peninsula. As for the logo, yeah, we might get a new one with bulls on it, but we could also get one with a bloke dying of heartburn like Leeds or some weird cartoon pirate ship like City regardless of who owns us.

If we've learned anything from RD's failed experiment, as well as the quick about-turns of the owners of Hull, Cardiff and others, it's that football fans in this country, you and me, are a bunch of bastards and you can't sell us anything we don't want to buy if it concerns our club. Sure, Red Bull have been able to pick up clapped out teams - a fifth division team and a team who had already changed their name for sponsorship money before - with little history and little interest but we are not that. I don't think we're being bought by RB for a second but I really don't think they'd have much luck pulling the heart out of the club if they tried; RD's been actively trying to kill us for years and as soon as he gets his money he's running for his life away from us as fast as he can. We like to say that RD bought the wrong club, and we will continue to be the wrong club for anyone stupid enough to come in with any agenda other than winning football matches and trying not to go out of business
