utterly insipid of course - so much chart music has converged on this wide-eyed epic-chorused three-chord template0

Why worry about today's chart music when there is plenty of Tallis, Byrd, Bach, and, at the other end of the scale, Scandinavian Black/Viking/Folk Metal to immerse yourself in.Leuth said:utterly insipid of course - so much chart music has converged on this wide-eyed epic-chorused three-chord template
Bach's St Matthew Passion this morning, the Månegarm back catalogue this afternoon.

Just playing this from my old label. Bear with it, it's starts slowly, then there's a great drum roll, and we're off.
It's from the only dub album (to my knowledge) that features double bass.

And maybe my personal favourite tune from all our releases. Such great sax from Roland Alphonso.

Not quite listened to it enough to get into all of the songs, but so far at least as good as their first album. A bit more electronic and less psychedelic (booo!) But with some decent melodies1 -

Back in the early 60s songs were simple - girl loves boy, boy loves girl, but err, hang on. What's this?
Girl stalks boy, girl wills his date not to turn up, girl takes pleasure in his pain.
Jeez Sandie, all along you were just a psycho
Classic 60's pop.

Dusted this off this week. Not that familiar with most of it other than the two singles but never realised this is a 60s tribute album, which makes the Taxman-esque Start make perfect sense.
