Red Kites are prominent close to the M 40, particularly around Stokenchurch and surrounding area. As the crow (Kite) flies not so far to Milton Keynes from there.Six-a-bag-of-nuts said:

Such beautiful birds. Have a great memory of seeing what was then a very rare Red Kite flying majestically over the town of Shaftesbury back in '87.
This was long before the reintroduction programme, when there were just 50 pairs remaining in Wales and none at all in England.
Assumed it was a wanderer from the continent.
