How do you know it was out of the blue? The Red Robin said:
I do wonder if Kennedy and Magennis perceived its banter. It could be seen as quite intimidating for a young player liek Kennedy to have drunk senior players phoning him out of the blue and calling him and insulting his appearance and professional ability.cafctom said:
The Sun's credibility has nothing to do with this - they haven't tricked anyone here as far as I'm aware.WhenIwasLittleBoy said:
And the Sun is a whiter than white newspaper, blokes having a laugh with their mates. Footballers are the same as any of us and have the right to go out and enjoy themselves, it wasn’t posted on social media, it was in a closed group so my concern would be that of who has sent it to the press.cafctom said:
How many of us are professional footballers in the spotlight who if something like that got out would make a national newspapers' website.....?WhenIwasLittleBoy said:How many of those who have posted have sang songs that could be deamed as racist ie “You Belgium w******s get out of our club” or “Katrien is a s*****r” ?? How many have been out with mates and got steaming and had banter with their mates ?
Who actually released the video as it was over a year ago, and why now?
I am sure if it was an issue to the Irish boys they would have sorted it out internally, social media and political correctness is a pain in the arse
I'll make no secret of the fact that I'm not far left, and that political correctness does my head in endlessly. That said, I still can't help but feel pretty embarrassed that our players come across like absolute chavvy pratts.
It is interesting though that someone thought they would leak this, there must have been some sort of motive behind it
I would guess it was a video reply to something he'd said.0 -

Kin ell
Kennedy probably (honestly just a guess) put something in the group like
'Look at them scruffy desperate mid life crisis twats who cant handle their booze'
Then comes the drunken video chat replies in a PERSONAL group, not linked to twitter or Instagram.
Happens weekly on most teams groups Id reckon, just ours had a wanker in it who sold it.3 -

How would you know? Id imagine the pro's of the 60's/70's were right dickheads on the piss.JamesSeed said:
Did I say the world was a better place then? I was talking about the way they behaved, not the way nazi Germany behaved. Even so, I doubt the players of that era were any more or less racist than those of today, and they didn't feel the need to behave like absolute bellends on a night out.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:
Well 6 million people aren't being gassed these days based on their ethnicity, women, working class and non white people are given equal rights in this country, whilst homosexuals are no longer criminalised and institutional child abuse no longer tolerated... but yes the world is a far worse place nowdays because drunk wallies film themselves acting up and using controversial language.JamesSeed said:I can't help compare how the players would have behaved on a night out in the thirties and forties. Obviously easy to satirise, but it's a reflection on how the world has changed. Is anyone arguing it's changed in a good way?
Now where did I put my bus pass.....0 -

Racism was less of an issue in that era than it is now for a variety of reasons. It did exist of course, and the jews and other groups (including Romanys) were scapegoated by right wing groups for some of the problems of the times, but far less so than in Germany obviously.

No mate it isn't normal behaviour at all and you aren't out of touch. It is not banter to call anyone's mum a slag and is exactly why I hate the word banter.Red_in_SE8 said:I can honestly say I have never had the urge to call any of my mates' Mothers a slag no matter how drunk I have been. Nor have I ever witnessed this happening. If this is normal behaviour for people in their 20s these days I am well out of touch.
Winding one of your mates up for being under the thumb can be, or for their haircut etc but none of my mates have ever called eachothers relatives. That's pond life stuff.

You really think a 34 year old foul mouth moron like Johnson is a pal of Kennedy's ? How can adults not see the difference between" banter with mates" and abuse. The fact that Kennedy used a Religious picture when saying about recovering from his ACL should indicate to you that Johnson and Kennedy aren't from the same planet, let alone mates.Greenie Junior said:Mates take the piss out of each other and their mates Mum shocker. Ffs what a non story.
If you don’t take the piss out of your pals Mum then are they really your pal?2 -

Sorry, I weren't very clear. I meant me and my group of mates who I grew up with and subject each other to dogs abuse. Parents have never been brought up, its usually fatness, penis size, birds (in the early years) and physical harm, thats what we base our abuse on....SuedeAdidas said:

Didn’t think of that-religious signs means Kennedy is a good person. Roger swears a lot so he is a bad person. They therefore can’t possibly be mates and it is definitely bullying.soapboxsam said:

Pro-banterists! I've heard it all now.cafcfan said:What @ValleyGary and other pro-banterists seem to forget is that their views are entirely irrelevant.
The Club, its officials and its players act under a fairly strict set of rules. Make what excuses you like, but the chances are those rules will be applied and sanctions may well follow.
If anyone wants to read the actual words that matter they can be found here:
book.flipboxapp.net/client/fa-complete-handbook#page/209
and here
https://efl.com/supporters/inclusion--anti-discrimination/
The important words seem to be "On the receipt of any complaint, the EFL will investigate..." (My emphasis). So, it matters not whether Kennedy or Magennis were offended. More important, probably, is what kickitout.org/ might think or any members of the public, the odd vindictive Stripey Nigel or Spanner say. I expect Paul Mortimer the organisation's Professional Players Engagement Manager might well have some work to do.
The list of possible outcomes from this are almost endless. None of them rest upon one fan not minding being called a pikey.
I fucking love this website.4 -

It's like the oxygen supply has been cut off on this thread and everyone is trying to outdo each other with doolallyness.
I'm off to the takeover thread for some rational sanity.10 -

Wtf. I got mates who are older than me and have different views to me, doesn’t mean we ain’t mates. If that’s what you base your standard of friendship of, all being the same as each other, you must have a boring circle of friends.soapboxsam said:

You've ruined your argument by writing who's instead of whose. Is it okay to hurl abuse at you now?soapboxsam said:

We need a dodgy banter thread where we can upload films of ourselves when pissed hurling abuse at each other. Most inane banter wins a prize.
