The anti English/British shit I see on Twitter on a daily basis is incredible. I didn’t realise how much we were hated and quite frankly I couldn’t give a fuck. For it to then come from an Irish/Welsh/Scottish team mate, would make me care even less.
Plus also got Romany travelling blood on my dads side of the family, and the word pikey doesn’t bother in the slightest.
In fairness the fella admits he is no longer a fat c*** , thereby implying he previously was
His weight loss is nothing short of amazing. He was a bit of a unit and the last time I saw him at the start of the season he was silf like. A racing snake. Good on him
Anyone that knows him better than me correct me if I’m wrong, I’m pretty sure he said to me he’s done 9 stone when I see him last.
Fair play to this fella but I'm not really sure that excuses Johnson calling him a fat c**t if that's what happened. As a public sector worker who here's this all the time "We pay his wages". Or did.
I don’t think anyone at any point said that was okay.

Whoever is arguing that WhatsApp is social media is wrong.
You need to have that persons number on your phone, it’s a private group. If one of those people decides to share the information on it then that’s their choice.
It’s like telling your mate something and he decides to tell someone else and then claiming your pal Keith is a form of social media.
I'm on 3 of my sons football team groups , there are loads of other parents on these groups whose numbers I don't have and yes it is dangerous, I sent a 'rude' video by mistake to the wrong group (before you could delete messages) and got an "inappropriate" message back from a mother who I didn't know and obviously the dads loved the bants , thankfully it was one of the tamer ones that i had been sent!
A bloke I work with here in Oz had his recently divorced sister and her kids staying with him.
She was getting back into the dating game and was on Tinder etc.
One night - when the kids were at their Dad's - after a few drinks she decided it would be a good idea to take a picture of her holiest of holy's and put it on Tinder.
Not a great idea at the best of times, but especially bad when instead of posting it on Tinder you post it on the WhatsApp group for your kid's primary school class.
Bit of a stressful drop-off for her next time she was on the school run.
This is the most Aussie thing I've read this year.

I was replying to guinessaddick.
And wasn’t it you that was comparing this to Mutu taking Charlie?
I can't help compare how the players would have behaved on a night out in the thirties and forties. Obviously easy to satirise, but it's a reflection on how the world has changed. Is anyone arguing it's changed in a good way?
What @ValleyGary and other pro-banterists seem to forget is that their views are entirely irrelevant.
The Club, its officials and its players act under a fairly strict set of rules. Make what excuses you like, but the chances are those rules will be applied and sanctions may well follow.
If anyone wants to read the actual words that matter they can be found here:
The important words seem to be "On the receipt of any complaint, the EFL will investigate..." (My emphasis). So, it matters not whether Kennedy or Magennis were offended. More important, probably, is what kickitout.org/ might think or any members of the public, the odd vindictive Stripey Nigel or Spanner say. I expect Paul Mortimer the organisation's Professional Players Engagement Manager might well have some work to do.
The list of possible outcomes from this are almost endless. None of them rest upon one fan not minding being called a pikey.

Now where did I put my bus pass.....
Well 6 million people aren't being gassed these days based on their ethnicity, women, working class and non white people are given equal rights in this country, whilst homosexuals are no longer criminalised and institutional child abuse no longer tolerated... but yes the world is a far worse place nowdays because drunk wallies film themselves acting up and using controversial language.

Haha pro-banterist. How do you make it sound so cool?
Oh course my views mean fuck all, just like everything else related to Charlton Athletic and it’s operation.
Do you think your views will? Cos I can’t see anything coming of this article or the incident in general, that hasn’t already happened.
Kennedy and Lennon/Phillips will still be mates.
Solly will still be a leading member of this squad.
Magennis will still be the first to defend any of his teammates on a Saturday afternoon.

I think the point is that this wasn't an outburst meant to be seen by thousands and published on a paper's website, it was meant to be in private between those involved, which, the "pro-banterists" are trying to explain goes on between blokes anyway, be it face-to-face, through private messaging Apps, telephone, or carrier pigeon.
If the club or the FA want to discipline every person who is linked to the game and who partakes in private banter with one another, through any of the mediums mentioned above, they've got a big old job on their hands.
If this was Millwall or Palace players people would want them strung up
Yeah, Big Bad World is a bit slow today.
Sometimes it is better to watch those who, when it is other clubs' players/fans/whatever, fall over themselves to be at the top of the morality tree but suddenly find that their moral compass has found a new north when it is their own club.
I've actually really enjoyed reading this thread and am pleased that there are just as many calling it for what it is as there are those that are trying to pass it off as a non event.
Is it featured in the paper today or just online yesterday?
It's on Letterman Tonight, Sky News feature at 6pm, Piers Morgan interviewing Johnson on GMTV tomorrow morning and Martin Bashir doing interview with Kennedys mum and dad Sunday.

Absolutely, apart from, maybe, just the one "concerned right-minded citizen" that lodges a complaint.
Or, maybe, the parents of a young kid from Londonderry or anywhere else for that matter, who have a choice to make about which football club they would like their son to sign up to and whether that club will take appropriate care of their precious darling.
Whatever. In terms of club reaction who is it down to, who is running the gaff? Could it be the most senior person left with competence to respond is the owner of the Valley Caff?

Audrey is just gonna finish mopping the Gent's and refilling the toilet roll, and she'll prepare a statement.
Ultimately where there was once a proper Charlton team, there’s now a group of has beens and probably nevergonnabees hardly breaking into a sweat.
It’s disappointing that Solly’s involved, but that’s about it really. Apart from that it’s a bit sad.
The club seems to have become generally toxic over the last 4 years. Roger Johnson is one of the more virulent strains of bacteria left in the Petri dish.

People have always got pissed and said dumb shit but in the past it wasn't filmed. The only lesson from this really is don't film yourself when you're pissed as you'll look like a twat.
I'm sure this will soon be forgotten about unless it transpires that it wasn't actually banter or the players keep filming themselves when pissed.
I'm just grateful when I was young that I didn't get to be filmed when I was pissed.
How many of those who have posted have sang songs that could be deamed as racist ie “You Belgium w******s get out of our club” or “Katrien is a s*****r” ?? How many have been out with mates and got steaming and had banter with their mates ? Who actually released the video as it was over a year ago, and why now? I am sure if it was an issue to the Irish boys they would have sorted it out internally, social media and political correctness is a pain in the arse
How many of us are professional footballers in the spotlight who if something like that got out would make a national newspapers' website.....?
I'll make no secret of the fact that I'm not far left, and that political correctness does my head in endlessly. That said, I still can't help but feel pretty embarrassed that our players come across like absolute chavvy pratts.
And the Sun is a whiter than white newspaper, blokes having a laugh with their mates. Footballers are the same as any of us and have the right to go out and enjoy themselves, it wasn’t posted on social media, it was in a closed group so my concern would be that of who has sent it to the press.
The Sun's credibility has nothing to do with this - they haven't tricked anyone here as far as I'm aware.
It is interesting though that someone thought they would leak this, there must have been some sort of motive behind it
I do wonder if Kennedy and Magennis perceived it as banter. It could be seen as quite intimidating for a young player like Kennedy to have drunk senior players phoning him out of the blue insulting his appearance and professional ability.

Did I say the world was a better place then? I was talking about the way they behaved, not the way nazi Germany behaved. Even so, I doubt the players of that era were any more or less racist than those of today, and they didn't feel the need to behave like absolute bellends on a night out.
