I was saying to the Mrs this week funnily enough, whether it's someone being interviewed in deepest Africa, or someone being interviewed in America, when they reference "The Royals", they mean the British Royals, not the Dutch, not the Danes, not Norwegian, the British. Charles did a good job looking out for her a couple of timesseth plum said:Some random thoughts.
God knows what would've happened if it had rained but the weather has been splendid.
Apart from Major I didn't see many politicians.
The packaging generated this morning by everybody wearing brand new shirts and socks and keks must've been awesome.
I didn't see much mobile phone usage or hear one go off.
I thought Meghans mum looked a bit lonely at times and wished she had a mate with her.
The collective bladder control of everybody was impressive.
A lot of the hats would have been useless in the rain, but on the up side most of them could be angled to give a bit of shade.
The age group from about 8 to 17 looked underrepresented.
The two familiar hymns were lovely and especially nice that local boy, and would've been Addick, Thomas Tallis, was featured in the music.
We also had another Charlton connection when the splendid equine creatures went away, it was Goodbye Horse.

Thought it was quite nice personally.
I didn't want to watch it, didn't want to like it.
But the romantic in me loved it.0 -

I didn't sit & watch the wedding in its entirety but caught 30 mins or so of the service at son's house in Dorking, then the exit from the church, drive through Windsor etc in the pub where we had lunch.
I'm not overly emotional about the Royal Family & have tended to wonder whether Meghan was a bit too "actressy" for her new role.
However, our son surprised me when he commented that he welcomed the relatively low key proceedings today (apart from American guy's sermon ) and this made me sit up & take notice....
Lots of fancy hats, ultra smart suits as expected but a very simple, elegant dress worn by the bride , flower girls & pages looking as though they enjoyed their part without being unduly fussed over and a couple at ease with each other & everything about the occasion. Much lower key IMO than Diana & Charles' special day.
In fact, take away the lengthy service, the hundreds of well shod guests, the celebrities, the carriage, the horses, the crowds waiting outside.....and it could have been Mr Ordinary and Miss Average getting hitched with eyes only for each other.
This union, albeit in its infancy, has already learned many lessons from the disastrous coupling of its elders.
May they live happily ever after.8
