Darren Pratley to be added.
Otherwise seems fine

Erm, I'd amend that spelling if you want Darren to guest at Bromley Addicks, Henners.....Henry Irving said:Darren Prattley to be added.

Arguably the worst squad we've had under Roland, with maybe the one from two summers ago to rival it. At the risk of stating the obvious, things are not good. You could probably cobble together a decent first XI from that, but when the injuries start to hit, as they already have, we look desperately lacking.0

Didn't Russell Slade teach you anything?

Now where's Louis, I feel the need to yell at him coming on.2 -
That is very worrying. Threadbare and as others have said, a lot of players in the last year of deals so with one eye on the future.
Don’t rely on them to dig us out of a cold Tuesday night in Burton.
I hate this owner. He’s almost destroyed that all pulling in the same direction spirit of our club.
Come on Aussies ffs1 -
Roll on October, hopefully we will have 3 new players, Igor, Reeves and Clarke3

You can thank me if you like, I won’t fight it :-)sam3110 said:Every time you post this we sign or sell a player

For anyone wondering... Seems Mascoll has been out injured for six months

It's impressive I have to admit.
You could almost fill a senior management team with that squad.1 -
With the depth of our squad you've got to consider yourself pretty unlucky not to make the first team. Even JJ must be regretting hanging his boots up and Bowyer must be considering coming out of retirement.
The first League game is two weeks away. Experience has shown that most new players coming in take at least a couple of months to get to full fitness - and that assumes that he doesn't pick up an injury along the way!1 -
In terms of squad building the delayed takeover must have caused Bowyer and Gallen massive problems
I imagine they expected it to be done by say the end of May, giving them 2 months to build a squad and a reasonable budget to do so.
On the other hand, if they knew that Roland wasn't selling, they might have got in early with some of the bargain basement players signed by other L1 clubs in June to at least bulk the squad up (and sold a couple of high earners to pay for it)0 -
Dijksteel, Reeves, Clarke and Igor now all missing through injury and illness. And Pratley and any other additions won't be fit enough for the start.Addick Addict said:With the depth of our squad you've got to consider yourself pretty unlucky not to make the first team. So is that a maximum squad of 15 now including just one keeper and only four midfielders and no cover at full back either?0 -
Which also includes the 2 Ibiza boysAddick Addict said:

Pratley can't play as not been added to the list in the OP2

Not just us (although we do have only one player who has played a hundred games for the Club) but how times have changed from a former era when we were in the same tier of English football:
From Killer, Flash, Pee Wee, Paddy, Ship Ship Shipperley, Bobby C, Phil W, King Arthur, Les B, Tutty to.................
"Who's your favourite Charlton player son?"
"Don't know"
"Don't know? You must have a favourite player?"
"No I mean I don't know who plays for them!"

To be fair the quality since the time we won the league under Powell is so much lower top. That season the top strikers in the division were Jordan Rhodes, BWP, Madine & Ched Evans!Addick Addict said:Not just us (although we do have only one player who has played a hundred games for the Club) but how times have changed from a former era when we were in the same tier of English football:

I suppose Josh Umerah is U23s too. Seems to have been here forever without breaking through. Must be now or never.0

The Racing Post have an article in today's pre season assessment in which they look at the outgoings and incomings for all 92 Clubs. They calculate the number of minutes that the players who have left played last season and then work out how many minutes our new recruits would have to play to compensate for that loss.
Well guess what? We finish 24th of 24 in the division. And each of our new players will have to average 8,047 minutes to compensate for the loss of those that have left. Or, in real terms, each one would have to play almost 90 matches!
Not something we weren't aware of. But rather sobering nevertheless especially when we're told that at least one of them won't be match fit and we have others from the existing squad injured too.1 -

Clearly we don't need any more signings...0 -
