Decided at 1pm to get to this one as a means of cheering up a very down in the dumps Fanny.
M25/M3 Friday afternoon traffic meant a 2 hour journey stretched to nearly 4 but made it by 6.30.
First time at the Ageas Bowl & quite impressed apart from the extremely loud music played at every possible opportunity .
So, was it worth it ?
Well, following what I felt was a pretty poor innings from our lads, the jury was definitely out & an apology to Mr F for dragging him out of his comfortable chair in Wadhurst was very close.
Surely it couldn't be a poor batting wicket !
And then the fireworks started....
I had been quite vociferous during our innings and seemed like the only Kent supporter in the ground, earning "poor old girl" smiles from the Hampshire faithful.
So, when their main man ( and SURELY a candidate for the England team again soon - lol !) went for 1 , followed by another, then another , seemingly ad infinitum, those pitying smiles were returned with knobs on.
TBH, we couldn't believe what we were witnessing !
What seemed to be an odds on defeat at 139 -7, now appeared to be an overwhelmingly winning score and the faithful turned to a prolonged Mexican Wave to cover up their embarrassment.
We were magnificent in the field even though at least 2 skiers were put down , with a fantastic catch by our Joe being the highlight amongst several other contenders. Stoinis & Milne are stand out bowlers indeed & should be feared by all the teams we have yet to face in the Blast. But, everyone played their part & the team spirit was very evident.
SNE must be regretting his decision to leave, with the first ball he received shattering his stumps courtesy of Adam Milne.
A great evening which we can only hope is a good omen for tomorrow's season opener at the Stadium of Light.6 -
For info, Tredders is umpiring the Whitstable vs Nonington game today.0

There are huge car parks nearby with plenty of shuttle buses in attendance.Covered End said:

There was a huge field about 5 mins or less walk from the ground , charging 10 pounds.Covered End said:

Personally don't think Bell Drummond should open in the power play for T20 games. Just feel he is a little bit too slow at getting going for this game1
