The Paul Hunter Classic is currently ongoing in Germany the last 2 days have been the amateur rounds, the pros entered today but in the early rounds there are so many matches I will be here all day typing, so just going to do any shocks or any ametuers beating pros for now.

So a quick update
Its been hard to keep up because the format is shit, half the draw played 3 matches on Friday, other half played 3 matches yesterday.
Anyway we are down to the final 16 players, so he is a quick update on shock results or surprising results.
Harvey Chandler 4-1 Alexander Ursenbacher
Harvey Chandler 4-0 Mark Joyce
Great day on Friday for Harvey with 2 good wins dropping 1 frame
Jackson Page 4-0 Zhou Yuelong
Jackson Page 4-1 Ian Burns
Jackson Page 4-3 Sam Baird
17 year old Amateur Welshman, with 3 big wins on Friday
Thats it for players have great runs, there was the odd shock result like Murphy losing to O'Brien.
But moving on today starts the final rounds and with no protests i can keep more upto date myself.1 -

Not at all surprised by the top 3, other than Ronnie they would be the quickest player on tour Thepchaiya could finish ahead of Ronnie come the end lf the season a very quick player.0 -
Thirty seconds average shot time is a disgrace and there are a lot of players around that mark. When breakbuilding players should know what shot to play, most of the time, without even thinking.0
-
This is where I disagree,
Some players are naturally slow, if they headed into 35 to 40 seconds I would agree but 30 seconds IMO is fine especially if there is alot of safety play in these frames.
I should point out the AST as from this season is being looked at by Barry Hearn and I am not sure how often I think its quarterly but anyone over 30 seconds will get a letter regarding playing to slow.
Barry has done alot for the game but IMO this could be bad, as someone who loves snooker for me its not just about big breaks and watching a frame be over in 10 minutes, I love watching safety frames that last 30/45 minutes.
As I said before some players natural game is a bit slower, not everyone can see the shot as quickly as others and forcing them to speed up could cost them there match and earnings.
Would Peter Ebdon have won the World Championship if he was forced to speed up.0 -
I agree , i get it in pool alot people taking 2 minutes a shot sometimes longer. Even worse when its a straight forward shot and your playing people who are supposed to be good players.LawrieAbrahams said:Thirty seconds average shot time is a disgrace and there are a lot of players around that mark. Yes, some people naturally will play slow. But its negative playing too slow, 30 seconds is ok but anymore is too much other than one offs or where they have a tricky decision.0 -
I
I have played pool at national team event in Yarmouth and they use the clock. It's 60 seconds or it's a foul and they call out at 30 seconds. I have hardly ever not played my shot before the 30 second call - it's a lot longer than it sounds.johnnybev1987 said:

Not everyone can play as quick as O'Sullivan but some players deliberately play slowly to put the opponent off.
What annoys is me when it's obvious what shot to play and they look at every other possibility but end up playing the obvious shot.1 -
Exactly, we have a rule that we can implement in our local league where 2 minutes per shot. Although that is far too long, as you say 30 seconds is plenty, there are a couple of pros who struggle with a 30 seconds clock (Liam Dunster specifically if you follow pool much) 1 time out per frame is normally good as your 1st visit after the break will take a bit longer to map out.LawrieAbrahams said:I

Do you still play pool? We have Central London Sunday , first season county for Kent Blackball so our team is a mixed bag. I played a couple of World rules comps Friday/ Saturday in Chatham only £5/£10, had a couple of pros/england level, dont really like world rules but will play odd one.0
