Shaky start from the Ravens on that blocked punt but once they gained control they were never giving up that lead. Ravens coped well without Mosley and forced the Broncos into seven punts. The Pats deserve to be under the microscope so far, and Belichick in particular. Their WR situation is rubbish and they've made something like 25 roster transactions involved a WR since the start of the open market in this off season? There's no speed at linebacker (complete contrast to the excellent Jags situation, but tbf look at how much we spend on our defensive line and that's with Ngakoue on a rookie deal); Cooks/Lewis/Amendola were all replaced on the very very cheap; they're almost praying on a Josh Gordon resurgence! I mean, Sony Michel had more touches than the rest of the offence combined last night.
Belichick will still probably avoid criticism in the main, though, with people opting to ask "is Brady finished?" instead (ooh, those sweet sweet headlines).0 -
Watching that Pats game, Brady is desperate for someone like Josh Gordon. No deep threat whatsoever. Shouldn't have traded Cooks to the Rams.

The Pats remind me a bit of Man Utd just before Alex Ferguson left. Everything fell apart at once, the old guard of players all finishing their careers and nothing in place to rebuild properly. I heard Brady went over Belichick's head, direct to Kraft to get Jimmy G traded. True, Garoppolo wanted out because Belichick couldn't guarantee him a chance to start, but that's down to Kraft and Brady too. Football is a hard business, nobody is indispensable in the end. It doesn't make sense to stuff the franchise's future plans because the owner backs a player instead of his head coach, and the player is convinced he deserves to start until his mid-forties.The Red Robin said:

A WR set of Edelman, Amendola, Cooks and Hogan, with Gronk at TE was a great threat to have. This year just isn't the same1

True but Brady had just led one of the greatest sporting comebacks of all time to beat the Falcons in the Superbowl. They were never, ever going to trade him and you can't pay two QBs that kind of money.Missed It said:

It's always difficult, deciding when a hero's time is over. I was gutted when the 49ers traded Joe Montana to Kansas City, but it was something that had to be done. The 49ers went on to win the Superbowl with Steve Young. I think the Pats have made the wrong move and won't be going to the Superbowl for a good while yet.The Red Robin said:
