  • FCC is going to play a charity friendly match in Kahla (famous city for china pottery).

The easy way with google translate:
Jena. On Monday, October 15, a devastating fire broke out in a residential building in Kahla, which also had a carpenter's workshop, and caused damage of around € 200,000. For the living and working family a heavy stroke of fate, in which she receives the support of many.

Thus, FC Carl Zeiss Jena has decided to help and will be available for a charity match agreed at short notice, said the club. "I drove past the house myself and saw what the fire did there. That was really hard. I did not have to hesitate a minute when the request came in to help us here, "said Kenny Verhoene, sports director of the FCC.

The charity match was initiated by Daniel Bottner, chairman of BSG Chemie Kahla, with whom FC Carl Zeiss Jena has very good contacts. Bottner quickly used his good line to the FCC to approach him with a request to be available for a charity match.

"Many thanks in advance to the FC Carl Zeiss Jena. That a club from the 3rd league takes the time during the season, is anything but a matter of course, "said Bottner

Now both clubs hope that as many viewers as possible will come to the game. The charity match between BSG Chemie Kahla and the FCC will take place on Wednesday, October 31, at Kahlaer Sportplatz unter dem Dohlenstein. The kick-off of the game is 2.30 pm, according to the club

All proceeds should benefit the affected family.

  • “On the other hand, Jena shot spectators in the 15th minute of the third division match at Eintracht Braunschweig on 14 September 2018”

    That seems a bit extreme.

  • I'm surprised it didn't make the papers over here.

Match-day 13 - FCC away to Energie Cottbus

FCC have a good history against Cottbus - P23 W12 D6 L5 - and a positive record in Cottbus, although the most recent match, in April 2017 during FCC's promotion year, was notably hostile on and off the pitch. The Stadium of Friendship - yeah, right! Today's attendance 7403.

Cottbus lie 19th, their post-promotion adrenaline surge a distant memory. The ref is a bad omen for FCC - 5 matches, 5 defeats.

    H/t and Cottbus deservedly lead 1-0 (42').

    2-0 49' - both goals from corners

52' 2-1!! Günther-Schmidt superb shot from 20 metres. Out of the blue.

F/t and 2-1 remains the final score. FCC improved as the 2nd half progressed but too little. The alarming winless run continues.

FCC took part in a charity match today (31 Oct) in the small town of Kahla, about 10 miles from Jena.

The game was arranged at short notice following a disastrous fire at the joinery works of the family Höhner in Kahla.

Around 1300 spectators saw local club BSG Chemie Kahla take on FCC, who fielded a separate team in each half.

FCC finished the victors by 14-0 (8-0). A worthy sum was raised on a very pleasant afternoon.

  • It seems that Rot Weiß Erfurt runs out of money and goes into administraton.

  • RWE need to find €500.000 in the next few days, otherwise the administrator must step in. Many comments on-line are unsympathetic "it's a story of mismanagement, envy and corruption". And "without the Belgian FCC would be in a worse position than RWE".

    Match-day 14

FCC 1-1 Hansa Rostock Att: 8141

After a well-balanced first half the visitors went ahead on 56' but deservedly FCC drew level through Stenzel two minutes into added time.

Nine games now without a win, FCC have sunk to seventeenth.

Also very worrying for FCC, especially having just been heavily fined for crowd disturbances, both sets of fans broke out of their compounds in the second half and play was held up until order was restored. (It will be recalled that last season the visiting fans bombarded their hosts with a ?shoal? of whole fish. Arthur Bryan would be so proud ....)

Karlsruher played their last match at their grand old stadium yesterday.

I think they're moving into a boring modern ground.

  • Some information about the new stadium

    http://stadiumdb.com/news/2018/04/germany_karlsruhe_stadium_later_and_more_expensive

Hmmm, 34000 capacity for a club currently in the third tier. Cost - €122 million. But they have 35 years to pay it back. Should have got Karren Brady to negotiate for them.

  • Match-day 15 - Mon 12 Nov

SV Wehen Wiesbaden 2-3 FCC Att: 2387

The home team scored first and last, their second goal an 89' penalty which sparked a furious finale. FCC's scorers Tietz 28' and 75', and Starke 79'.

After 9 games without a win this is a most welcome performance and result. FCC rise two places to 16th.

FCC's next match is on Saturday against Meuselwitz in the State Cup.

  • FCC have issued a statement about the continuing issues with the stadium redevelopment. RD gets no specific mention, as has become customary. This is somewhat curious as he remains the club's principal investor and ongoing benefactor. He keeps a low profile these days.

The statement's reference to FCC being the last remaining 3rd tier club in Thuringia is presumably a swipe at RW Erfurt, their bitterest rivals, who have gone bust not least because of a costly and over-ambitious stadium reconstruction. (This is the club which RD first wanted to buy, Erfurt being the location of his factory, but this failed to work out and he ended up "acquiring" FCC.) Failed sports projects in general certainly do not encourage new investors.

The notes about the South curve refer to the FCC ultras. These highly active fans want a special status in the new stadium but other stakeholders want the fans to become actual investors and to accept formal responsibility for their own activities. This is an open goal for opponents of the project - FCC has only just been dealt a hefty fine for events at the Cup game vs Union Berlin, and before the dust has even settled they have had to introduce new stadium procedures following recent significant disturbances when the nutcases from Hansa Rostock came to Paradise. No official sanctions have yet been handed down.

Perhaps German Addicks can add some further background to this latest announcement.

    13/11/2018
The supervisory board and the board of directors as well as the management of Spielbetriebs GmbH of FC Carl Zeiss Jena dealt intensively with the current discussions about the new stadium construction in a meeting on 12.11.2018 and would like to comment on this with the following statement:
We find it incomprehensible that after many years of efforts for a new stadium new irritations arise and the joint project is partially in question. All of the football club's bodies are in favor of resolutely implementing the previous decisions of the City Council and successfully continuing the carefully and professionally carried out project planning in terms of new stadium construction.

We are convinced that Jena needs a new modern stadium as part of an efficient sports infrastructure of football and athletics. The football club FC Carl Zeiss Jena, which has existed since 1903, brings an average of just under 6,000 spectators to the stadium during its games, making it one of the largest and most regular organizers in the city. We can not resist the impression that the opponents of the project are now using the topic of the Southern curve as an opportunity to conduct a fundamental discussion.

We are clearly positioning ourselves to continue the pan-European call for tenders as planned. Otherwise, it is to be feared that there will be a shadow on the "City of Light Jena", which is hardly to be understood nationally and internationally.Jena is the lighthouse in East Germany, which has just confirmed the city ranking with Jena as number one among East German cities We know that the topic of the south curve is a challenge - both structurally and in terms of fan culture - we clearly condemn riots, but we fully support fan culture, as we also often and enthusiastically perceive it.

We are therefore of the opinion that it should be decided at a later stage of the call for tenders - for example in the context of implementation planning - whether this challenging project can be realized. Then there are reliable facts that show the conditions under which it could be solved in terms of planning and which additional expenses are associated with it. In the meantime, the dialogue with the fans should be continued on the basis of mediation.

We are happy to assist in clearly presenting the significance of the only remaining third division football club in Thuringia in state politics and to make it clear during the budget negotiations.

    FC Carl Zeiss Jena

  • The German language is well-known for its compound words. FCC kindly came up with a nice one on Monday - auswärtsfanunfreundlichen (if I remember it correctly) namely away-fan-unfriendly, to describe the Jenaers 650km round trip for a 7pm Monday night kick-off.
Fair play though - there were over 500 visitors out of a 2387 crowd, all the more impressive when you remember that FCC were winless in 9 and they were travelling to a club in reasonable form. No doubt the 325km journey home worthily celebrated a victory as welcome as it was unexpected.
  • The south curve moves north. At yesterdays town council meeting the decission has been made, that at the new stadium the place of the ultras is no longer in the south curve.

    https://www.thueringen24.de/jena/article215799391/Suedkurve-bleibt-FC-Carl-Zeiss-Jena-Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld.html

    Google Translator:
Jena. It was discussed, it was argued, it was demonstrated - and everything was said. Now finally a decision was made about the south curve in the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld of FC Carl Zeiss Jena.
The decision of the City Council Jena: The south curve must go!
Until shortly before midnight, the City Council of Jena was discussed, since the participants in the non-public meeting could agree to 18 clock on no decision.
Then the city council announced the decision that the FCC fans had hoped not to hear.
New construction of the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld: Fans have to say goodbye to Südkurve
Now it is clear that the fans of FC Carl Zeiss Jena have to say goodbye to their beloved southern curve. Because in the new building of the Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld the south curve the FCC fan curve will not be preserved anymore. The city council has decided the north curve.

About the yes and no to the topic "South curve remains" was discussed for a long time. The FC Carl Zeiss Jena is soon to move into a newly built stadium - but in the south curve will no longer be home and standing-grandstand for the most loyal supporters of the FCC.
FC Carl Zeiss Jena: dispute over the new construction of the stadium
The reason: In the time-honored Ernst-Abbe-Sportfeld home and guest fans share the south curve - according to police an unacceptable condition, which kept causing riots.
Because the accompaniment of the guest fans to an away block in the south curve of the new stadium would facilitate the police work, the fans of FC Carl Zeiss Jena should therefore move to the north curve.
Not only among traditionalists, this decision met with strong criticism. The FCC, the team, other clubs and celebrities showed their solidarity with the fans - the motto "Südkurve stays" became omnipresent in Jena, the city of Jena increasingly under pressure.
Initiatives, petitions and demonstrations for the south curve in the EAS

An initiative was launched, over 2200 supporters signed an online petition, there were demonstrations in the city and an open letter to the city council written.
"In wind and weather, we cheered our FCC," assure the fans in it. "We want to enable our children and grandchildren to enter a bend where all people with an open and positive attitude to life are welcome - regardless of the skin color, gender, sexuality or age they have"
"We would like to continue to follow all these positive approaches in the future at our usual place in the stadium," the fans wished.
    ##
    I think the story continues.

Having the home Ultras next to the away fans is bound to lead to trouble. Note the huge number of security personnel of various kinds. Either FCC pays or the state pays - either way it's an enormous expense. It's highly unlikely that a rebuilt stadium costing €52million would perpetuate this built-in trouble factor. The club's official reaction to the re-location of the ultras to the north curve. Sadly, it's not possible to have your cake and eat it. They need a LOT of money but at the same time they want to keep the fans happy. Unsurprisingly, the money wins.

FCC WELCOMES CONTINUATION OF THE STADIUM PROJECT
    15/11/2018
At the same time decision for Nordkurve as new home of the Zeiss fans is regretted.
Yesterday's city council resolution on the overall template of the stadium renovation and thus the continuation of the stadium project is expressly welcomed by FC Carl Zeiss Jena. It is right, after many years of efforts to realize the new stadium construction, to implement the previous decisions of the City Council and to stay on the path that was last described by a carefully and professionally carried out project planning.

The goal of all those involved in the city, the country, the club and its surroundings has always been to build a stadium that everyone who loves Jena football can look forward to as a long-awaited new home from the start and accept it as such.

For this reason, the FC Carl Zeiss Jena regrets the decision of the city council to locate the home of the active Jena fan scene in the future in the north of the newly built stadium. The FCC respects and appreciates the fans' commitment to work to preserve their traditional, traditional place in the Ernst Abbe field of sports. In addition to sport, football is also home, friends and identification. That no one voluntarily and gladly gives up this melting pot and at the same time atmospheric heart chamber of the stadium, is completely comprehensible. FC Carl Zeiss Jena would have wished for a different decision here.

However, the construction of the new stadium has the highest primacy for the future viability of the club and thus also its lively fan scene. That is why FC Carl Zeiss Jena promotes the decision to respect the Nordkurve as a new location for active Zeiss fans and to do everything in their common dialogue and concrete projects to make the Nordkurve a new home and atmospheric engine in the new stadium can be.

In dealing with the resulting additional costs for our FC Carl Zeiss Jena on the subject of security and the development and support of fan culture our FC Carl Zeiss Jena relies on the Jena Mayor Dr. Ing. Thomas Nitzsche offered to engage in dialogue.

FCC 4-5 SpVgg Unterhaching Att: 4023

An insane match. Bock 36' Tietz 42' Günther-Schmidt 53' Felix Brügmann 69' bring the score to 4-4, but the ninth and deciding goal falls to the visitors on 81' . 9 yellow cards - FCC 3, SpVgg 6.

  • I've tried to translate the video with the fans position of moving to the Nordkurve.
"The Südkurve is the place of the FCC Ultras for years. In this area they are celebrating wins with the team or to fume over defeats for ages. The new plan for the stadium questions the "ancestral seat" of the Ultras. Home and away supporters should be in different stands in the new stadium. The away fans stay in the south stand. By this it'seasier for the police to guide them to their seats. The risk of a clash between FCC and away supporters decrease. That's the main argument to move the ultras to the north of the stadium. But the ultras want to stay in their Südkurve. They 've founded the movement "Südkurve bleibt" (Southcurve remains). They make suggestion for staying in the south. For example a new safety concept or structural alteration works at north stand(?). They even raised money (150.000 €) with crowd funding so far. The ultras offered their help in building the stadium. However the ultras foil the effort in setting fire to flares and show in this behaviour that they will not stand to the rules of the DFB."
The banners in the match report are saying: The dream is over -- but we give everything to make it real. At the end of the game: Stubborn and not for sale.

Würzburg Kickers 5-2 FCC Att: 4800 (600 made the lengthy journey from Jena)

After last week's 4-5 home loss another 5 goals conceded. FCC sink to 17th, the highest of the relegation places. Eckardt opened the scoring on 15' (0-1) and Tietz made it 1-2 on 31'.

    Match-day 18

    At H/T - FCC 1-0 SV Meppen Julian Günther-Schmidt 30'

FCC (17th) have had the upper hand in the first half. Their opponents are 18th - for both teams three points will be mighty welcome.

61' FCC's Live text "The first 15 minutes after the break was nothing of our FCC. It can only get better."

64' 1-1 Meppen equalise through Nick Proschwitz. The goal had been coming.

75' 1-1 Live text author VERY unimpressed with the ref. Stand by for the visitors to win a harsh pen ....

"4198 spectators have found their way to Paradise today".

87' 1-2 Meppen take the lead. Textman - "Incredible. Meppen attacks on the right. We only provide escort ...."

90+5 1-2 and it's all over. Poor second half for FCC.

  • FCC has sacked Zimmermann.

    From the kicker sportsmagazine: http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/3liga/startseite/737727/artikel_ziel-gefaehrdet_jena-trennt-sich-von-zimmermann.html
    Google Translate:
Coach dismissal in the 3rd league: Carl Zeiss Jena has released coach Mark Zimmermann and his assistant Martin Ullmann after the home defeat against Meppen (1: 2) from their duties.

Carl Zeiss Jena has sacked his head coach Mark Zimmermann ,the club announced on Saturday morning. So the club reacts to the descent of recent weeks. Last Jena conceded three defeats in a row.
The 1: 2 defeat duel against Meppen aggravated the situation of the relegation-threatened Thuringia. After 18 completed games Jena is on the 18th place in the table. So far only four games have been won by the team.
"It is and remains the ultimate goal for Carl Zeiss Jena to keep the class and this goal is endangered and needed a decision, even if this is very difficult," said FCC CEO Chris Förster.
Zimmermann had taken over the club in July 2016 and led directly to the third division promotion. Last season he celebrated with Jena the sovereign league (eleventh place with 52 points).

  • Not unexpected. In MZ's post-match comments there was an air of helplessness, of resignation. With this match so important the team's second-half capitulation triggered what RD and the CEO had doubtless already prepared for - the coach's dismissal.

  • FCC appoint their new head coach Lukas Kwasniok:

    (translation courtesy of Google)

The 37-year-old football coach, who was most recently responsible for the U19 Bundesliga team at the KSC junior performance center, will lead the first training session with the third division team of FC Carl Zeiss Jena on Tuesday.
Chris Förster, FCC Managing Director: "Lukas Kwasniok is coaching the FCC veteran Mark Zimmermann, who has done a great deal for the club and left its mark. That's a challenging situation. Accordingly, our requirement profile for the new coach is - and Lukas Kwasniok complies to 100 percent of all committees and responsibles. Thus, in addition to his professional qualities, he also brings the necessary dynamism, passion and joy to accept this challenge and master it together with the support of all. We are looking forward to working together and are very happy that we were able to convince Lukas of our path. "

Lukas Kwasniok, who will receive a contract for the leagues 3 and 2 until the summer of 2021 at the Kernbergen: "The situation is indeed challenging, but it is also very appealing. The FC Carl Zeiss Jena is a good name in German football, has a passionate fan scene, a great history and a challenging present. I would like to present this with much pleasure, passion and diligence. I am convinced that the team has the quality to keep the class - and in addition, in the discussions with the responsible people, I quickly got the feeling that the environment is right, that the passion, the desire, has it in common to tackle. And that convinced me pretty quickly. "

Kwasniok was born on June 12, 1981 in Gliwice, Poland, and moved with his family to Karlsruhe in 1988, where he learned to play football and all the KSC teams went through to the U18. He played 18 internationals for DFB-U teams and was captain of the German U16 national team. In the men's field, he was also on the ball for the KSC, before it went to Arminia to Bielefeld and later to Sandhausen.

In 2014, he moved back to the KSC in its junior performance center, where he trained the U17 and later U19. In the spring of this year, Lukas Kwasniok successfully completed his apprenticeship as DFB football teacher with a top score of 1.0.
