The actor Windsor Davies has died at the age of 88.

Davies, best known as the sergeant major in TV series It Ain't Half Hot Mum, died peacefully on Thursday, his family said.

    Such a pity, loved watching him in everything he did, obviously 'It ain't half Hot mum' and the one he starred in with Donald Sinden, something to do with Antique dealers?

    RIP, loved It ain’t half hot mum. My grandad served in Burma and said they had a lot of the characters off to a tee.

    Agreed. .i loved it as a kid but they couldn’t possibly show it now what with indian characters and the poof jokes aimed at the Melvyn Hayes character.

    He retired to France some time ago.

    Amazing to hear he was quietly spoken. Yet another of my favourite comedy character actors has passed and I loved to watch it ain't half hot mum.
