The article raised a chuckle around a serious subject. It wasn't laugh out loud funny, which is just as well as I fell over last week and laughing now hurts.I'm surprised that Millwall haven't condemned the racist chanting. As a club they have done a lot of work against racism at community level - so why the tolerance for it? If it happened at Charlton, we'd expect the club to ban anyone identified as doing it. Even Chelsea are sending some of their racist fans on courses to understand why its wrong.1

The suggestion that the club is tolerating such abhorrent behaviour is, at best, complete fabrication.
As an aside, I can take or leave Romesh. Nowhere near the best comedian on the circuit but also nowhere near as unfunny as Paul Chowdhry.4 -

I put him in the category of “comedians” that I don’t find funny because of their limited material, although I liked his sitcom The Reluctant Landlord, I love Ricky Gervais’ tv stuff but don’t like his stand up stuff.

I know it’s all about opinions but I’ve seen Frank Skinner live as well as lots of other “top” comics and he is amongst the very best.Big_Bad_World said:

Some of my favourites are either dead or have taken a back seat in recent times.
Richard Pryor, Dave Allen, Patrice O'Neal and Bob Monkhouse are the obvious ones.
A special mention goes to Dave Chappelle. Can't wait for him to fully get back on the circuit.
Of those still performing I think you're hard pushed to find better than Bill Burr, Jim Jeffries, Corey Holcomb and Tom Segura. They won't be everyone's cup of tea, though.0 -
The problem for Romesh Ranganathan is he's in a similar position to Gary Neville and management ? sister Tracey and brother Phil are ahead of Gary in Being successful.
Not saying Romesh isn't funny but his Mother and Uncle are ahead of him for laughs.0 -

Patrice O'Neal was a genius. He literally did not give a fuck about his 'career' either. He lost so many gigs and opportunities cos he didn't care. Man was just straight up funny. Scene stealer in The Office and Arrested Development - but his stand-up was bordering on genius1

I think Frank Skinner is one of the quickest thinking comics around. I once was in the audience for fantasy football, and whilst David Badiel was as funny as penile warts, Frank kept the audience laughing and was genuinly approachable and witty.2

1. I haven’t judged him. I’ve judged his comedy and the material he uses. To me It’s not funny. I don’t know him or what’s important to him. I couldn’t care less about his race, mum or eye. Which is probably why I don’t find him funny.
2. If in some bizarre parallel universe he said ‘hey, Rob, do you like my comedy?’ I would absolutely tell him I don’t. I’m sure he’s had harsher critics than me and I doubt he’d care.
3. You’re getting upset about me judging someone as a person, yet you’ve called me a knob based on my opinion. Is that not judging someone? Or are you deliberately being hypocritical?

I find most modern standups incredibly bland - maybe just an age thing.
Jerry Sadowitz is the most offensive/daring comedian I've seen - seemed happy to have a pop at everyone including himself and to destroy his career in the process.
My pet hates at present are Shappi Khorsandi and Nish Kumar who to me are utterly useless and devoid of any comic takent. There have been comics in the past I've disliked on the basis of their material but at least I could see they had talent.
Patrick Kielty is certainly No1 for being smug.0 -
