  • Very edgy, not giving a Knight Commander of the British Empire his full appellation ;)

That's the BBC for you ....
  • Sam cook is out in Dubai with the MCC getting smashed by Surrey.

Well, they dont have the county championships best bowler playing do they...
  • Look to be a batsman or two short if you ask me, that's what really held us back last season
  • Lawrence and Westley to come in as well though.
  • Cook gets his ton.

Thousand runs by end of May and a shoo in for the Ashes.....
  • And Wheater is on 130

True. Westley had a poor season by his standards, hopefully he returns to form.

Can also add ten doeschate to the list of ageing all-rounders

  • Sir Alastair Cook.

    England's loss is Essex's gain!
  • Essex elect to bowl.

    Start delayed - bad light.....

  • Essex whooping Hampshire by an innings within 2 days. We only just pipped 200 runs as well. Whilst the seamers made the most of the weather, it was Harmer who did the damage with a 10-fer
  • The pitches are definitely being prepared for Harmer rather than the seamers.

  • A massive loss to S Africa, when you consider their dearth of spin bowlers and their importance especially in white ball cricket these days.
  • While I'm not a Somerset fan, I'm cheering them on to win the championship in Trescothick's near-certain final season, and that result does a lot to make it a more likely outcome. The only hitch is that Somerset have Chelmsford and Harmer next up. That said, Leach is more or less his equal...expect more low scores!

Somerset look easily the best team at the moment, helped by a lack of injuries and no England call ups. Tresco is struggling a bit at the moment, he was dropped for their last game
  • Simmering nicely at Chelmsford. Essex currently have a lead of about 250 and a couple of wickets left, including Wheatear. A typically low scoring game with a pitch set for Harmer, plus seamer friendly conditions. Porter and Beard tore through Somerset in the first innings. Still a gettable target under 300 but have to favour Essex surely now Harmer is likely to have more of a say. Opens up the division if we win.
  • Nice summary @McBobbin

    Somerset chasing 269 are 19-2
  • 48-3

Harmer strikes in his first over

  • 64-4 at lunch
  • 66-5, harmer. Can see this being wrapped up today
  • 67/6 Porter. As gorilla monsoon used to say, goodnight nurse!
  • 79/7 Porter gets his 9th of the match
  • 79/7 porter with 9 so far this match
  • Sweet, sweet victory
  • Nice one.

Just need Kent to win another couple.
  • Are Somerset England in disguise?
  • Essex have Notts 163-7 at present.
  • Notts are unbelievably pathetic this season, they were about 140-3 a few minutes ago!
