Surveillance in the stadium

Now that kind of thing will stop me attending football.
1984 here we come.

Feels like a monstrous waste of electricity to me tbh0
-
Why would it stop you attending?
What are you doing that you dont want caught?
Personally I am all for it and it would help to find and ban twats I:E people who throw things and those twats who think smoke bombs are a good idea(1 set of i covered end at the pompy game the row behind me by kids, smoke went straight into @kellycafc who is asthmatic) also some twat in the covered end thinks its a good idea every game around the 60 minute mark to start smoking so it would stop that as well11 -
I'm all for it.1
-
Smoke bombs and flares are a good idea tbh sounds like it would be more beneficial for clubs to install Fulham style sterile areas0
-
This is hardly new, I imagine most English clubs have had this for years.
If you're not breaking the law, what's the problem?9 -
I like scratching my knackers. How do I know that some dirty old pervert isn't watching me on his monitor.9
-
If someone wants to spend 90+ minutes studying my bald head, great, knock yourself out.3

I’m boycotting, my old seat is empty......not much happening.....unless they’ve got a camera at Greenie Towers watching me watching Jeff on Sky......hang on a minute.......what if they have?0
-
Innocent to proven guilty in the UK. By the logic of this every dwelling should therefore be monitored ln case they commit a "crime' utter bollox4
-
As long as they don't put cameras in the bogs.
I don't want to be filmed smoking my half time cigarette.

How can they see our seats from all the way up there? It's 400 miles.7

With weegie on this 100%.
Those saying "I don't care if they violate my privacy; I've got nothing to hide" are misunderstanding the fundamental nature of human rights. Nobody needs to justify why they "need" a right: the burden of justification falls on the one seeking to infringe upon the right. But even if they did, you can't give away the rights of others because they're not useful to you. More simply, the majority cannot vote away the natural rights of the minority.
Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say.

Good idea . People trot out the 1984 nonsense but if it eliminates the morons it’s a great thing .
You only have to worry if you’re going something wrong .5 -
I'd be more in agreement with my DNA being stored, than being filmed everywhere I go0

But who gets to decide if you’re doing “something wrong” then. The police? Because they’ve got a great track record with football fans haven’t they. The club? I bet our friend Katrien would’ve loved something like that.
The problem with with this sort of thing is that it erodes people’s basic rights and is a further step on a slippery slope.
if there is a specific problem area then fine, film that area to collect evidence. But routinely filming everyone in the ground all the time is a step too far for me.32 - Sponsored links:

Go dressed as an empty red seat, they will never notice you then.15

Its when they mess up and lose that data is when it becomes a problem
Also if that data is being stored then they need to stop using it against that person to make companies richer3 -

The problem with this approach of "let's film everyone then we can get them later" is much the same as the general "let's have CCTV everywhere and catch the murderers later". It's far better to prevent trouble and bad behaviour than to deal with it later, though it may well be more expensive. It also abdicates responsibility for dealing with match-day issues to an algorithm reading the CCTV feed much later rather than proper stewarding. It will lead either to sterile atmospheres or future disasters. Neither are a good thing IMO8 -

I've not seen any evidence of it leading to a sterile atmosphere or a disaster.
When we go into the ground we are on private property and accept as a condition of entry the ground regulations which include filming.
I protested, as did many others. Thankfully no one spotted me dragging the sofa onto the pitch : -6 -

They've had it for years at the Valley...I'm sure I recall seeing leaked footage of a couple shagging on the centre circle a few years back.11
