"For example, it is debatable whether the first candidate for buying the club, who was pushed, with the very best intentions, by ex-CEO Peter Varney, ex-director Derek Chappell and Rick Everitt (VOV from 29 12 15), the current owner of Ebbsfleet football club, would have been the right fit for Charlton."
This bit made me laugh. RD questioning whether someone else would be right for the club, when he couldn't have been more wrong.6 -
"Please make the best of it"

"The past few years, I have continued to pay everything at the club......."
Like staff bonuses?
"....despite the way some of our staff members, their family, my friends, my family and myself have been treated by individuals who claim they act in the best interest of the club".
Oh boo hoo, bugger off then.

As with all of the comments he makes on us it’s form of deflection.
So the takeover is held up by the previous directors, not him *
We are using a small budget because other clubs are operating with non-sustainable model * not his fault
Ebbsfleet are in some trouble due to the owner who was recommended by people who CARD respect/involved with - ** I know best
Bowyer needs to agree to the extension of his contract before we can discuss increasing his terms ** not him.
All Charlton really represent to him at the moment is a source of personal embarrassment (Thanks largely to CARD) and everything he says is designed to either deflect blame on to others or highlight largely incorrectly that he was right all along
i can’t wait till he is gone15 -
What a complete tool.
Still blaming everyone else but himself too

re Directors loans - he's dumped a couple of people in it right there hasn't he. We can assume those mentioned, who he thanks, are playing ball from which I assume the others are not. Also confirms recent rumours that ex director loans are holding up a sale **

I'm sure this point has been made already but the worry now is that the success of League One promotion with next to zero expenditure will reassure RD that Championship survival is equally possible under similar circumstances. Which is, to say the least, a gamble3
-
So he has offered Bowyer an extension on the same terms? Ridiculous.0
-
Basically:-
Well done Lee and Me.
Theres no more money in the Championship than L1.We will play academy players and if they are any good we will sell them.
Lees on a shit contract, applicable to L1, which he can trigger an extension to and therefore stay another year, or he can do one.
Its all the fans fault and especially VOTV.We wont be winning many games, but get behind the team anyway you mugs.
What an absolute waste of skin he is......13 - Sponsored links:

If you took his statement on face value, he nearly sounded normal But we know he's as mad as a bag of frogs and still wants 100% too much for Cafc. I'm still surprised that the payment to the ex directors is such an issue when most clubs in the Champ must have loans out standing to directors yet a few have been sold in recent years.
It's paramount that Bowyer signs. No ifs, no buts. If Bowyer leaves all the cards come crashing down. I wonder if Richard Murray has pointed this out to Duchatelet as there is no CEO to point out the facts of football life in the EFL Championship.6 -
Oh and thanks for the season ticket income.5

Well I for one was very glad to read that the ultimate goal is now the Premier League, as opposed to just having a good dance after every game, whatever the result.
That’s visionary right there.

Yeah let's be fair, it's genuinely not a bad statement.
But if we are being fair, he wrote a maximum of 10 words of it.5 -

Relegation seems a certainty reading that.2 -

Am I missing something ? Apart from the fact I don't think RD wrote this it seems a reasonable statement to me
"The past few years, I have continued to pay everything at the club, despite the way some of our staff members, their family, my friends, my family and myself have been treated by individuals who claim they act in the best interest of the club.
I do not intend to do otherwise until the club has been sold. However, I want to bring the yearly losses to a more reasonable level. Operating on a small budget will limit our chances of promotion to the Premier League, which are already obstructed by the large, unsustainable, overspending by some other clubs in the division. Does it mean we have no chance? No."

We all know what RD is like.
So on this basis I think the statement clarifies matters a little.
It definitely tells us more than we knew.
I think reading the above comments, many people have failed to understand what he has said and might want to re read what he said.
(Assuming what he has said is true).8 - Sponsored links:

I thought the person Peter Varney acted for, had no connection with Ebbsfleet and Roland never met Peter, just dismissed him as a billboard salesman.

I found that statement to be absolutely depressing and the PR work of a mad man if he is seriously trying to sell the club. All it has done is brought forward my Friday trip to the pub with a sense of relief that I didn't buy a season ticket ...................

FFS, shut up. Be surprised if Bowyer stays, seems like RD is balking at the increased expense of coaching and playing staff in the Championship. Think he’d have been right happy if we hadnt been promoted. Bowyer will have to weigh up if we have a shocking season in the Championship will he be as sought after.1
-
My god, his economic claims run in direct opposition to everything known about football. The value of stadium lands is zero, because they cannot be developed into something without leaving the club homeless, thus destroying the economic value of the whole venture. Often the same is true of the training ground. To value the club by the theoretical value of grounds that cannot be utilized for anything but football is crazy.

Also, it is very clear we will be spending zero in this transfer window and that.... is that. There is no other way to interpret his wording.2
