Dreamland wining two games and getting 6 points. Never thought this would happen 6 months ago.  Even at 3-1 I thought a draw would be good. We have a premiership stadium and should be playing at this level. Only RD to blame for me thinking this isn't really happening.
Surely not there was less than 10 minutes left? Even away at Man City you wouldn't accept less a win at that point!

Has anyone asked Lee Bowyer where he wants his statue built yet?
He ain’t won nothing yet 😉
    Promotion from League One ??
You don’t get a statue for that do ya?

Love Bowyer though. He’s not put a foot wrong, and he’s building what looks like another great side.

    You get new corner flags.

Bowyer’s win percentage better that the great Jimmy Seed’s??
    Shh. For god’s sake man!

Good to see a proper pro style forum. Now we know what we’re missing.
    Bartram out!
Joking apart, they’re not a happy bunch are they.

How the hell did we luck out with Bowyer and Gallen?
I really hope they’re both here for the next decade

Reading some of their comments this feels a bit like the reverse of when we lost to them on Sky in 2007/08. I think it was our second game back in the Championship after being relegated from the Prem in 2007. We expected to go straight back up and didn’t imagine losing to “the likes of Stoke”. Pulis built a very solid team and won promotion, we fell away from the play-offs after selling Andy Reid.

A central midfield partnership of Ambrose and Semedo, no wonder we lost that.

Anyone got a gif of Gallagher’s goal?
  • Unbelievable afternoon! What a fantastic way to start the Fortress Valley campaign!

Very little to add - It,s already been well documented and examined by my fellow Lifers .

But had to add a brief  view from here in the New Forest.

I cannot believe how awesome is our current midfield ! Each and every one of that group of lads played a huge part in today,s victory and those who excelled at Wembley continued to display their attributes. Of course, the skills and determination of Josh and Jonny are exceptional ( I still can,t really believe that we,'ve stolen them again !) and young Conor is one very special addition .But I am SO impressed with our most experienced player in that area....arise Sir Darren Pratley ! Truly Bow and Steve have assembled a sublime blend of youth and experience .

What a team indeed. My flabber is well and truly gasted .

Sadly the Fanackapans will be missing at Barnsley but unlike our cricket team , I have every confidence that the lads will

From watching Quest, it seems Sunderland were shocking today. Big pressure on  Ross to get things right...

The most amazing thing today was the goal from the corner.
Cullen hits a  ball to the near post where Lyle Taylor back flicks to the the late run of the boy wonder Conor Gallagher.
JJ and Marshall were credited with this routine and the boys practiced at Sparrows lane this week,
Despite it being reported that Lyle wasn't at training !

Those tosspots on twitter should be run out of town for spreading that shite and the guys on CL who passed it on are no better.

Lyle Taylor is a great professional who will love playing with the talent available now.
Of course he was tempted to 2x or 3x his money but he is no Scott Parker and l for one dont believe Lyle threw tantrums.

If he stays till end of season I  hope he is the highest earner as strikers should be paid top dollar. If he isn't then he will be 30 and he gets a free and ends up with a 2 year contract for 20k a week in the championship.

No way could he be allowed to leave on Scott Parker day.

Magic day to be a Cafc fan and no weak links today despite Dillon Phillips suffering with the wind !
Both keepers should have does better 1st half with the goals.

We won our first two home games against Hull and Wigan but surely there was an away game in between ?

Great news to wake up to. Every time I get out of range on a woop woop dirty weekend (last time was Portsmouth away last season), the team does it so well behind my back, ooohhhhh !!!!

ALL credit to Lee Bowyer, Johnny Jackson, Steve Gallen and this superb Addicks Team who have (yet again!) done an absolutely magnificent job in pulling this all together on minimal resources. ..brilliant, keep up the great work ahead - well appreciated all 'round to be sure...indeed, 100% support guys - driving on!!!!

I remember it well. This was the game where Paddy McCarthy got nicknamed "bombscare".

    Anyway, about today's/yesterdays game.
I thought we did well to hold Stoke until half time, bearing in mind they had a 50mph wind behind them.
I'm also certain Ince's rocket was heavily wind assisted.
Overall we rode our luck, but the midfield were superb.

As for Golfie's comments about Gallagher  ...............
I truly believe on today's showing Gallagher will go on to play for England, assuming he doesn't get trapped, not playing at Chelsea for years. An outstanding debut.

Drew two away game in between. Just been looking through the squad. A right mismatch of players interesting read on where they are all now.

As for the game, I thought end of the 1st half they were on top and half time came at the right time for us. 2nd half we were the better side, Cullen was motm for me. Gallagher and Williams close behind. Early days but great to see us continuing the momentum from last season.

    Right, I’m really pissed now.
We’re gonna sneak a play off spot. Thought it for a while. Spirit and momentum outweighs big spenders.
    Believe in the journey.

We are currently in a golden era at CAFC and we simply must enjoy it. I was in the North Upper as I was last season and I semi expected to see us do that today. Bowyer is a genius, he is the new Curbishley, we must saviour these moments and for the record Solly was solid today.
  • Went out straight from the game to a family dinner. Then pub then moody shit bar and finally home.

What a performance (despite riding out luck) the Valley was buzzing.

Gallagher is mustard, what a home debut that was. Taylor despite his muted celebration, worked his nuts off- Give him a new deal he deserves. When Leko picks up the ball he gets me excited, he is like a upgraded version of Mavaidi. Chuks is a unit and took his goal well. Loved seeing Grant Basey dishing out instructions as well

First time in a while being a Charlton fan has felt this good.

Well done everyone involved in the club in the recruitment as the difference today was clear to see. I think we will get better and better. Hopefully Hamed goes through and we can have a right go this year.

You are spot on about that central midfield we had, but our lineup was full of quality players.

I must have been watching a different game to some on Valley pass here in Rhodes! I saw Stoke had some spells when they were on top, but I thought we were the better team overall. We looked sharper and after they missed their early chance after the break, it felt to me we were going to win it. The players I would pick out, were wearing red. I think, given that so many players were bought in at the last minute and the pre-season this has created, you can only assume the team is going to get better and what a great point to get better from.

Mind you, I have been convinced Bowyer is something really special for a while. And while I say that, I included Gallen and JJ in that. We may have the smallest budget in the League, but I am convinced we have the best manager. Another trait Bowyer has is that he never takes a backward step. 2-1 and we don't change anything as many managers do. Playing agianst this level of opposition, it is always best to kill them off rather than let them have a go at you.

I wouldn't say full, McLeod was awful for us and Sam wasn't good enough for a promotion chasing side. Winning the battle in midfield is so important, that midfield was never going to do that. If you can't compete in middle of the pitch it doesn't really matter how good the rest of the team is. That's one of the things Bowyer really knows what he's doing. We have midfielders that can win the ball and are good going forward. That's a big reason for why I think we'll have a good season.

Great day out, Brentford tickets already purchased. Moved to right at the back of the NU by the drummer and I think ive found my new home. Im 36 and feel like an old man in that crowd, its a great sign for the future and our fan bases age becoming lower yet again.
