Away team boats to The Valley

seem to be becoming a regular thing. Birmingham last game, Leeds on Saturday.

where do they dock? Is it Greenwich or do they get a closer mooring?

Seen the Leeds one doesn’t dock till 2.30 apparently. They’ll be 200 of them that won’t be making KO if that’s the case.

That's seems a bit late to arrive on time (North Greenwich is probably the nearest)

Us going from Greenwich all the way to Fulham makes sense, but seems a bit odd to me to come 100 to 200 miles down by train or road, and then take a boat for the final bit of the journey. I suppose the equivalent is if we were playing at Old Trafford and did the final part of the journey along the ship canal!

I reckon they can get closer than that

Seems a good idea for some clubs. Fulham, in particular seem ideally placed. Gillingham, Southend and even Ipswich would be good journeys if they were in the same division. Birmingham though, that's 137 miles on the Grand Union, one hell of a trip.

Not at 2.30, I like to see the warm up.

10 mins earlier I would have been all over it...

Did Birmingham use the Grand Union Canal?
  • Google maps shows a pier/jetty west of the Thames barrier, and a couple more just east of it. Could they come ashore by the Anchor and Hope?

    No, they’re private piers.

    This’ll do

Not inconceivable that a private boat charter would pay to moor at the private pier closest to the valley so that they can arrive at 14.30 and still make it to the game....

    Right?

    Right?
    Not quite so simple Siv,
The pier nearest is derelict. The next one is a working pier. Even to walk on it requires PPI. Health & Safety on the river and piers/ jetties is very tight.

    Aha... Good insight....

What's PPI, though? Is it impossible that they have done the required paperwork to use it?

I think he may have meant PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Then again, he may have meant PP-Aye.
