It is enough for me that we have a new owner that is going to secure the services of our management team and sign up a couple of our players to contracts.
Anything else is a bonus. I’m not greedy and just happy to have a proper club again.40 -
Still think the Sheikh will be involved somehow, he’s put Nimer in control of all of his businesses, but the one that requires passing tests, FFP etc... nah that’s not mine. There’s plenty of reasons why they might not want to make it too public including trying to keep prices down in the upcoming window.
Either way, indications are that we’ll have the wealthiest owners we’ve ever had and they’ve already likely spent more than any other owner just in purchasing the club. Onwards and upwards .

Lets face it, Nimer hardly made his fortune independently of the Sheikhs! His main role is managing a private office of a Sheikh, you wouldn't make a vast fortune by yourself and then take such a role.6

Most clubs reward successful managers and players. With Roland we expected the opposite to happen (Yann, Grant, Aribo, Bowyer's contract situation, etc.). It's been such a frustrating/bleak few years that the simple prospect of our management team and Taylor getting the deals they deserve is enough to get the fans onside even though this would be a minimum expectation for the majority of clubs.
Could you imagine Wilder and the best players at Sheffield United experiencing similar treatment from their chairman? It would never happen but for us it did.
If the new owners can do the rational basics right by rewarding those who deserve to be rewarded and provide some continuity, then that's good enough for me. Like you say @Redrobo, anything else is a bonus.

I met him once, I think around the the time the Spivs took over. Deffo a Charlton fan.
He said one thing to me that I didn't like the sound of "Every bid will be a property play".
Having said that he is (or was) a property guy himself. And every property guy I have ever met seems to have the attitude that monetising property is more important even than procreation.
But then again, if these guys are the real deal ( by which I mean competitive funding at Championship level for the next 2 years) and Lee brought them to the table, then we all owe him a pint.
Things have moved on since 2010 and the land availability on the peninsula is reduced, but at The Valley the issue is the high cost of - and practical and planning obstacles to - the development at the Jimmy Seed Stand end due to land and access issues.
Wasn't the multi-use arena deemed to be be an illusion as part of the scam that ended up with them in court?
The problem with The Valley is that the land behind the west stand was sold for housing. This may prevent another tier being added to that stand.

It's all conjecture until we hear more from ESI but even if the sheikh doesn't put a single penny of his own money in, it can only be a good thing that Tahnoon Nimer is in such circles in the first place. I can't see him struggling to find additional investment from his friends and colleagues if it's ever needed.

Just because that the people taking control of the club are very rich and have connections to people who are very, very, very rich indeed, some posters on here seem to think that it is axiomatic that they will spend untold millions on the club. This may not be so. For my part, if as a result of this takeover, we can start to financially compete with the majority of other clubs in this division, then I will be delighted.
I have supported Charlton since 1964 and we have always sold most of our best players to bigger clubs. From Bailey to Parker that has been the way. Even during the 90’s as we rose to the Premier League we sold Lee to Newcastle and Bowyer to Leeds. However,Taylor to Brentford? BFG to Preston?
If this takeover means we only sell our best players when a truly bigger club pays the appropriate fee, then the step forward from the Duchatelet era will be enormous. Anything more than that will be a bonus.

1 who owns the club?
2 what is the business plan?
3 how will that plan be funded?
4 what are the plans for the training ground and academy?
5 what are the plans for the Valley?
6 what is the exit strategy?
Laugh away but think back and consider if we'd had honest answers to all of these about the Spivs and Duchatelet regimes.28 -
