I think it's already done and dusted.

Either way even if the money isn't what people believed, we wanted Roland gone and that's that. If they stabilise us and make us a consistent mid table championship team that treats their fans, players and staff correctly then that will do me for the foreseeable future

It is though, Cawley has said who’s bankrolling it and he’s minted.

A bit like our present owner then.

He then went on to say it's what he's been told, but he can't verify it.

Still think the Sheikh will be involved somehow, he’s put Nimer in control of all of his businesses, but the one that requires passing tests, FFP etc... nah that’s not mine. There’s plenty of reasons why they might not want to make it too public including trying to keep prices down in the upcoming window.
Either way, indications are that we’ll have the wealthiest owners we’ve ever had and they’ve already likely spent more than any other owner just in purchasing the club. Onwards and upwards .

It would be extraordinary if someone in Nimer’s position and status was to get involved in anything either dodgy or without intention of genuine success. One thing we can be certain of is that unlike Slater and Jiminez he is not a chancer and unlike Duchatelet he is not barking mad.

    I think we’re ok.
Hmmmm, he just paid 60m for Charlton....

Zabeel never made it past due diligence. This is already nothing like Zabeel.
  • Lets face it, Nimer hardly made his fortune independently of the Sheikhs! His main role is managing a private office of a Sheikh, you wouldn't make a vast fortune by yourself and then take such a role.

Exactly. I think it unlikely he would be working for the Sheikh if he had individual wealth of say £150M.
He would need that sort of money if he was planning to buy us for £60M & spend £40M in the next 3 years, as a start.

What does it mean when it says account suspended?

One of the most common reasons a site is suspended is due to lack of payment for web hosting. ... To get your site back up and running: Contact your web host or log in to your web host account.Aug 6, 2018

    That doesn’t sound good!
  • I don't think he's the sort of office manager who orders the photocopy paper and puts up health and safety notices.
He's the first aider and fire marshall too

It is enough for me that we have a new owner that is going to secure the services of our management team and sign up a couple of our players to contracts.

Anything else is a bonus. I’m not greedy and just happy to have a proper club again.
This sums it up for me.

Most clubs reward successful managers and players. With Roland we expected the opposite to happen (Yann, Grant, Aribo, Bowyer's contract situation, etc.). It's been such a frustrating/bleak few years that the simple prospect of our management team and Taylor getting the deals they deserve is enough to get the fans onside even though this would be a minimum expectation for the majority of clubs.

Could you imagine Wilder and the best players at Sheffield United experiencing similar treatment from their chairman? It would never happen but for us it did.

If the new owners can do the rational basics right by rewarding those who deserve to be rewarded and provide some continuity, then that's good enough for me. Like you say @Redrobo, anything else is a bonus.

    The early signs are positive.

Lee Amis is @itsmyball on here, and he is a current visitor.

I met him once, I think around the the time the Spivs took over. Deffo a Charlton fan.

He said one thing to me that I didn't like the sound of "Every bid will be a property play".

Having said that he is (or was) a property guy himself. And every property guy I have ever met seems to have the attitude that monetising property is more important even than procreation.

But then again, if these guys are the real deal ( by which I mean competitive funding at Championship level for the next 2 years) and Lee brought them to the table, then we all owe him a pint.
Looking at it from an owners pov - what would they gain from selling a football ground for real estate in an expensive part of London, to buy an empty plot of land, in another more expensive part of London, to then outlay loads of dough to develop? It would surely make more sense to develop the current ground?
Well, what was on offer originally was the redesignation of a significant slice of former industrial land on the peninsula for residential development, generating eye-watering profits, with the cheaper and more constrained site at The Valley used to provide the required social housing element. The price was Charlton becoming the anchor tenant of a multi-use arena built at Morden Wharf. That was what Jimenez and Cash were involved in and is the reason they were here.
Things have moved on since 2010 and the land availability on the peninsula is reduced, but at The Valley the issue is the high cost of - and practical and planning obstacles to - the development at the Jimmy Seed Stand end due to land and access issues.
Planning consent recently given for 8,500 homes on the Morden Wharf site.

Wasn't the multi-use arena deemed to be be an illusion as part of the scam that ended up with them in court?

The problem with The Valley is that the land behind the west stand was sold for housing. This may prevent another tier being added to that stand.
It wasn’t an illusion. The concept was in the council’s planning brief for the area, but the spivs never engaged with the landowner.

It's all conjecture until we hear more from ESI but even if the sheikh doesn't put a single penny of his own money in, it can only be a good thing that Tahnoon Nimer is in such circles in the first place. I can't see him struggling to find additional investment from his friends and colleagues if it's ever needed.

  • Exit strategy? Bit early for that isn't it, hopefully they will run the club well and with integrity for many years.
