[cite]Posted By: BigRedEvil[/cite]Start of January. Perfect time for any scouts to have a look at him ;-)

We'll be fine for another year. We only sell our star midfielder every 2 years. Once we get relegated and he plays regularly he'll be getting plenty of offers this time next year.

    Parker 2004, Murphy 2006, Reid 2008, Jonjo 2010.

Hopefully we'll have someone ready to take his place by then, ready to be sold in 2012.

[cite]Posted By: uncle[/cite]Absolutely proud of you today Jonjo. I know you'll read this so just wanted you to know. Its no wonder you were knackered after an hour the amount of running and closing down you done in the first half was excellent and actually showed older more expeienced players how it should be done. Dont worry about fading a bit you just need to get match fit but in order to do that you need to play matches. You just keep doing what you did today and you wont go far wrong.... Well done we are all so proud

To add to what I said, if he's reading, he played very well, he'll get fitter as he plays games and gets older.

Keep working hard, don't end up like other players we've had in the past that aren't interested in getting better and don't want to push on.

And please stay at Charlton for as long as possible!

I know this is going to sound soppy and sentimental, but I would honestly rather see a promising 16 year old lad like Jonjo come through our ranks than have some billionaire benfactor go out and buy us a Rooney or a Beckham.

I mean it. Despite everything that happened, I''m still proud that Scott Parker was a Charlton product. And Lee Bowyer. And Robert Lee. Jonjo is going to end up playing in the Prem - and it ain't going to be with us, unfortunately. But there's a little - hopefully a large - part of him that is always going to be Charlton.

You're right to be proud of him, uncle. The boy did everybody proud today. Credit to himself, credit to his family, credit to Charlton. I'm going to log off now cos Im getting quite overcome with emotion!

Jonjo's in Colin Cameron's record books now- youngest scorer and what a way to do it!

I just hope he sticks around to score some more for us.

Well done Jonjo. Glad you got your chance at last and took it so well. Keep it up and make it hard for Parky to leave you out. Perhaps your performance will help some of the others get a chance. I'm well chuffed for you and Uncle.
  • nice one Jonjo, little Joe was wearing the number 7 shirt today with SHELVEY on the back.Me and NLA along with Uncle have been saying it all season you have to play, pure class.

I Hope you have now done enough for the gaffer to give you a chance of getting in the starting 11,A GOOD PERFORMANCE & A goal.

Try and put a run together, get match fit and push on.

Don't let things go to your head, Charlton is a good stepping stone and you're still young.

Sure Kins will help you along the way, well done today.
  • yeah he had a great game 2day.

He was awesome today and proved all those who said he was to young or not going to be good enough (including Pardew and Parkinson) wrong it is still early in the lads career and it could go either way still but he has got something most of our team hasn't at the moment a bit of spunk.

No doubting the lad played very very well...though only for 60 miutes or so and then he faded quite dramaticly which, in my opinion, resulted largely in us falling off the pace after the first 15 minutes of the second half...not sure about Jonjos engine at this moment in time...might just be the one weakness in his game that could prevent him from reaching the very highest level...but hey he's only 16 so one must assume that will improve. For all concerned it needs to as (when he plays for the first team that is) it would seem he's pivotal up to the time he starts to fade and then the shape of the side is in danger of changing significantly.... as indeed I think it did yesterday.
  • did he fade more than Sam Moutakill ? I think our right hand side in the second half cost us the game.Mouts was left with 2 players for their goal where was the right midfield.Lloyd started well yesterday but held on to the ball too long in the second half.I wouldn't have taken Jonjo off his job was behind Richard, not midfield.

I thought Jonjo played v well yesterday and i hope he's fit for Forest as Parky mentioned that Jonjo had told him he was struggling a bit in the second half and that's why he subbed him. I hope it was fatigue rather than an injury.

I heard the North stand signing about him quite a lot.

Even Semedo got a song yesterday.

good stuff, glad to hear it.
  • thanks to jonjo and pbs for prompting the odds... had a gentle wager on 20 to 1 first goalscorer and 7 to 1 anytime scorer... all the winnings being put on us getting relegated;-(

NSS, I don't think SoundAs was being critical of Jonjo. It's just that we've got to remember that he's still very young and needs to build up his stamina if we're expecting him to put himself about for 90 minutes the way he did for the first 45. He looked knackered after 60 minutes, and that did reduce his effectiveness. Better to sub him than risk him injuring himself in a mistimed tackle, or making an error that lead to a goal.

    Well done our JonJo!

Got to be honest I shed a tear. I felt so proud, so lord only knows how Uncle & the rest of your family must have been completely bursting with pride!!!!!

KB & I noticed just before half time how tired you were & both agreed it was just lack of match fitness that resulted in that, so don't worry too much.

My worst fear was everytime someone went in hard at you for a tackle..........you're poor wee legs (am I thinking more like an aunty there rather than a football fan.......maybe so).

Whatever you do JonJo, you can hold your head up. You'll always be thought of fondly by us.

    Thanks for your tireless efforts

Lets hope we have many more memories

    xx
