can see it from both points of view ESI need to know where they stand cos they don’t want him leaving last minute.com and Lyle wants to see what’s out there so he can maximise his earnings .0 -
This is bad news - unless we are in for Toney and thinking more long term ???2
-
Maybe this is all part of the negotiation - we need things sorted ASAP, taylor probably knows the closer to transfer deadline we get, the higher the offers may be - we can’t let it drag on that’s for sure without a plan b0
-
Read somewhere yesterday that the Brentford manager is happy with the strikers hes got including the new lad so is probably not going to sign another one. Reckon Lyles off to Rangers, more money, still a big fish and european football.

Honestly if it is as it seems and Lyle is dicking about and leaving the club in the dark then I am a fan of them removing the offer. No player bigger than the club and all that.
As long as we replace him which we can if the investment is there then I wish him luck and thanks for the memories.4 -
FishCostaFortune said:Do think it's pretty poor that he did not at least respond to the contract offer.
I would guess, even though by the sounds of things we offered him good money, he probably has offers from teams that might be challenging for Premier League football so could see why he would want to leave.
Just because he wants to leave, and might be running his contract down, does not mean he will sulk around not do a job for us to the end of the season.

Oh he’s well out of order not responding to their offer fuck him
oh he has responded , well he’s a greedy sod not taking our offer and looking elsewhere fuck him24 -
Oh well. Bye bye Lyle. Thanks for the memories.0

It would appear he has decided to leave it.
We move on.3 -
Ah well that clears that then, fair enough. I hope our fan base now don't start acting out towards him like emotional teens. Great player, huge part of why we got promoted and not a bad bloke either.
For his sake though I hope it's not another Ricky Holmes situation. He's undoubtedly had his best season with us, similar to how Ricky did and well, we know the rest. Making the comparison cause of the age and how recent1 - Sponsored links:

Luckily Hemed is fit again now.13

Posted this on the other thread.......
Said after the Swansea game that he wasjt injured. Did sod all during that first 45 mins & then is replaced due to a "thigh injury". Now unavailable for the next 2-3 weeks so "cant" play for us. You can bet your bottom dollar he will be fit though for whoever he signs for....(but then who is going to sign a player who is currently injured & struggled to play 90 mins when he was back from his recent injury.......perhaps a club who knows it's all baloney).
God job Lyle's off twitter atm. Expect to see that turned back on again once he's left.

We all appreciate Taylor and what he has done for Charlton.
BUT we need players who want to play for Charlton, simple as that. Unless results improve then the dedication from players is important.
Cheers Lyle.1 -
Let him walk for fk all in the summer, still needs to prove hes worthy of a bigger club... after all it's how we signed him.0
-
If he's turned this down we could do with moving him on and getting a replacement in as early as possible. I'm sick of Charlton losing their best players right at the end of the window. Clearly never as clear cut as that though.

Fuck him, wanker.7
-
This is very bad news if he goes. Proven goal scorer, fans favourite clicks with Bowyer and the club...it's not just a case of replacing him with another player good on paper as no guarantee they'll click.
We're struggling for goals and if we let a proven goalscorer go and end up relegated will be false economy.

Make him stay. We will get piss all for him this late in his contract.... I would rather he doesn’t get it all his own way. After all - he surely needs to prove he is fit and his worth to a future club.
And if not - just fuck him off on to the bench. We surely have the funds to get a couple in alongside Bonne anyway5 -

End of the day you cant have one player on 30k a week and everyone else on 6k

Taylor is 29. His agent thinks he can get more than we are offering.
End of, unless we up the offer.
That's showbiz.7 -
Unfortunately this is just what both sides need to do in the circumstances. What benefit does Lyle have in signing a contract now? If he does not sign, he gets a bigger offer in the Summer as a free agent, either from us or elsewhere, or both. ESI cannot let that happen, so they should try to sell him now.
The situation is not at all similar to Yann, who was on a contract, did not want to leave, and, frankly, iI believe ESI will spend any money received it a target that Bowyer choses.
This is about Lyle getting to the Prem, so even if we match an offer from a Leeds or Brentford, then he is going to leave.1 -
Thanks for the memories, Lyle, esp the backheel challenge.
The situation kind of sums up modern day football really - can't begrudge him a big payday when we've had fantastic value from him, but equally a real shame when there is no loyalty to the coaches at CAFC who've brought the best out of him.17 -
Oh well, at least we got Hemed back now.2
-
Oh well, it’s football. He’s always worked his bollocks off when he’s played and he’s scored bundles.ESI need to really back Bowyer and Gallen this window now. I’m really not keen on the Blackpool lad but then what do I know.10

So , the wave after the game on Boxing Day , really was goodbye.

Want his money? Then start contributing what he does when fit.
Selling a prolific and proven goalscorer (and everything else he brings) without a cast iron replacement is not good.
Kermorgant sale mk2.
We're not man United or Barcelona who can tell star players to jog on if they ask for too much as they'll be world class players ready to fill their boots. Decent proven goalscorers looking to join a club in our position are rare as hens' teeth and no guarantee they'll click if at Charlton even if they've done the business elsewhere.
Will be bad business if he goes. Pay him what he is worth and keep him happy and when fully fit he'll be banging them in again and moving us up the table.
If you want to be competitive at this level you need to spend substantially on key players as quality is one of the key requirements to progress and retain and attract players who will facilitate that progression.
No mystery that in general the better spending teams generally perform better in the leagues. No escaping that reality as unromantic as it is.
Oh and anyone not a 15 year old girl who pays any mind to what footballers or others say on twitter needs to have a long hard look at themselves:-)21 -
So we have new owners yet still the bad news keeps pouring in. I despair!0
-
No player is bigger than the club.
If he's not interested in signing a new deal that's his choice. We can't exactly moan about it or hate him for it, as we signed him after he did exactly the same to Wimbledon.
Thanks Lyle. Cheerio.2
