Said after the Swansea game that he wasjt injured. Did sod all during that first 45 mins & then is replaced due to a "thigh injury". Now unavailable for the next 2-3 weeks so "cant" play for us. You can bet your bottom dollar he will be fit though for whoever he signs for....(but then who is going to sign a player who is currently injured & struggled to play 90 mins when he was back from his recent injury.......perhaps a club who knows it's all baloney).
God job Lyle's off twitter atm. Expect to see that turned back on again once he's left. What are you going to post next, the queens a lizard? Paul Mccarthy died in a car crash in the 60’s and was replaced by a look a like?
Now, I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but I do believe that things are made up or "spun" to get an outcome that a player or club may want.
As said previous his original injury seemed a bit off & then his return got delayed by 3 weeks (missing the Millwall fixture) and once back could only play 45 mins at most. I give that he played all 90 mins against QPR & Bristol City (which was his last home match & was seen "waving goodbye" by a number of fans) but then came on during the 2nd half against a 10 man Derby & the lacklustre 45 mins against Swansea.
I would dearly love to be proved wrong.....but don't be surprised to see him in the starting line up in a couple weeks for his new club without a care in the world (and no injury)2 -
Agree with others who say that if he's not interested in staying, let him leave.
Been a very good player for the club. Cannot blame him for trying to play at a higher level as he nears 30. We'd all do the same.2 -

Big questions to answer. Are we more likely to get more points for the remainder of the season with Taylor up front or someone else? How much extra will that someone else cost? Will Jan prices be too premium for value? Is there still a willing £xm buyer for Taylor?
We took Taylor on and benefited from having previously run down his contract. We shouldn’t really be over surprised and up in arms when it’s later repeated.

Taylor rejects offer = Greedy
Taylor accepts offer = ESI really moving us forwards towards the PL

He will join Aribo at Rangers1
-
Said it a while back, no player is bigger than the club. Let him go.
when he was out for all that time we actually did ok, get a few players in and no doubt we can cope without him1 -
A statement of intent by the new owners, they will not be messed about. no doubt Taylor would have loved the option of signing the new deal if he fails to get any better offers, that option is now removed.I personally think that he will struggle to match the alleged deal we have offered due to his recent injury problems and his age, still his agent knows best.Fully support the new owners on this.3

I had no idea who Lyle Taylor was before he joined us, have very much enjoyed his work ethic and eye for goal while here, but have been in the stands wherever our football has taken us for over 35 years and can say we have seen a lot of very good strikers come and go.Will only start to worry if it transpires that ESI are a lot of happy, welcoming types with no budget for Gallen and Bowyer to play with, but no reason to suspect that, quite the contrary.
Thank you Lyle, good luck at your next destination and looking forward to getting an early indication of ESI’s intent...8 -

Want his money? Then start contributing what he does when fit.
Selling a prolific and proven goalscorer (and everything else he brings) without a cast iron replacement is not good.
Kermorgant sale mk2.
We're not man United or Barcelona who can tell star players to jog on if they ask for too much as they'll be world class players ready to fill their boots. Decent proven goalscorers looking to join a club in our position are rare as hens' teeth and no guarantee they'll click if at Charlton even if they've done the business elsewhere.
Will be bad business if he goes. Pay him what he is worth and keep him happy and when fully fit he'll be banging them in again and moving us up the table.
If you want to be competitive at this level you need to spend substantially on key players as quality is one of the key requirements to progress and retain and attract players who will facilitate that progression.
No mystery that in general the better spending teams generally perform better in the leagues. No escaping that reality as unromantic as it is.
Oh and anyone not a 15 year old girl who pays any mind to what footballers or others say on twitter needs to have a long hard look at themselves:-)

We're Charlton...we'll either sell him for an undisclosed fee of training bibs or bring in an ineffectual loanee or buy someone who has been setting league one alight or doing it in the championship who suddenly turns into Ali Dia the moment he steps over the Valley's hallowed turf.
Great goalscorers are so hard to come by (how many have we had in last 20 years, Mendonca, Bent, Kermorgant and maybe Wright Phillips) and you let them go at your peril.
I thought Brexit was madness but this is just sheer lunacy #notinmyname5 - Sponsored links:

What's happening with Bowyers contract?
More important if you ask me.19 -
I can only hope that the owners, LB and SG have something decent up their sleeve now.
big call to withdraw the offer otherwise2 -
Surely we'll be bringing in two strikers now then. And one of them is going to have to be a biggun to replace our top scorer.0

The 'strange' thing Bowyer was talking about?4

Great. Looking forward to telling my volatile 8 year old that another one of his heroes is buggering off 😠🤯🤬6

Without any detail, this area is surely Southall's forte.2

Taylor had potential to go in the same category as Yann, Bent, Mendonca. But not after only one season, few years from now he will be forgotten about, let’s move on see where it takes us.2

Taylor brings other players into the game and works hard off the ball.
It would be tough to lose him, but if he doesn’t want to stay, what can we do?2 -
"Greedy" Bowyer and his evil agent rejected an offer from the owner in the summer.
We showed him not to disrespect Charlton. Wasnt that good a manager anyway, never managed above league 1, and as he rejected an offer he clearly didn't want to be here.
Don't want people like that at the club.
Where is Bowyer now by the way?8 -
We can point out the fact that we have struggled in his absence, but more to the point, how many more would Bonne and Leko have scored had Williams and Cullen been fit,how much pressure would have been off the defense, what if we had been able to rotate,Pratley,Gallagher,Otzuma, keeping them all fresh, our dodgy run is not totally down to Taylors absence.2
-
If no decent offers come in he stays and still needs to prove his worth of more money from another club.0

Not sure if that's intentional?29 -
To the guys with young lads who will be gutted, know how the kids feel, remember when Sam Barttram retired,I was devestated for weeks,When Stuart Leary left for QPR I just could not understand it,sadly young lads have their heroes, and it is very hard for them to accept that sometimes players just do not want to play for them anymore, but, someone else always comes along.2
-
This leaves us mega light up top, I don't think another loan will cut it we need to try get get like for like, which means toney0
-
Player doesn’t want to be here - obvs going to play for a bigger club than Charlton - his choice, thanks for the goals you aren’t a “hero” and best of luck.4
-
I do wonder how its going to be for Agents / Players negotiating with the club now
They're effectively negotiating with an Agent themselves what with Matt Southall's past... Gone are the days of having them treat us like mugs in the sense we saw with Meire
It'll be a shame to lose Lyle but I think it'll be different to Yann this time as we wont have a penny pusher of an owner to get a replacement
Of course it'll be difficult but no player is bigger than the club!!4 -
