He is our most important player , we can’t offer him European football or a chance of premiership football next year but he would be worth matching financially what these clubs offer because of what he brings to us as a whole package (providing he is fit enough to play! )

He has a contract and has to be open to the move that’s on the table. He may well be aware that (like Aribo) there is an offer there for next season which will be the best next move for him, or confidence he’ll pick up a better deal in the summer.5 -

Got no issues with him wanting to leave however I have my doubts that we will easily draft in a 20 goal a season replacement. They are few and far between plus they may be doing at a club now but its no guarantee that they will move to us and continue their scoring form.
The same applies to Taylor when he moves on, he could struggle.0 -

Taylor will be missed as he is a very good player however if he doesn't have the fire in his belly then he is dead wood, he is one player from a squad, give me Williams , Cullen , Field and hopefully Greene collectively over 1 lyle Taylor anyday.

he says no
club willing to accept offers if no one comes in that’s life
I said after he got injured first time we won’t see him before Xmas and when we do he will facilitate a move
nothing changed
Lyle taylor had a huge impact in league 1 for us and done his job
now he wants to go elsewhere or have what he thinks is a worthy offer we don’t
people will buy him 3 mil I reckon and he is gone
it’s just football tell the world he is for sale
and see what happens
we plan that he is gone and start the search for replacing
if he doesn’t go we don’t need to sell to buy so he will not have a bearing on that decision
no player is bigger than the club and Lyle doesn’t deserve abuse he deserves gratitude and appreciation from the fans but he is not a messiah he is not a legend he is a good footballer who done his job we enjoyed him time to move on

Our squad is paper thin, Taylor is an important part of that squad, but not irreplaceable. I believe ESI have set a budget, Taylor has been made a substantial offer (within the parameters of that budget) which he has rejected - probably indicating that he isn't interested in negotiating. ESI therefore walk away from negotiations and move towards a replacement.The word is Taylor rejected 18k a week as he thinks he can get more. Perhaps Bowyer, Gallen.and ESI think 2 strikers on 10k a week represents a better deal for the club.7

@nth_london_addick I agree he has to be let go but it is a big deal. We're in a relegation battle and we're losing our top scorer with no other fully fit strikers in the squad.8

Disappointing but I can understand Lyle wanting to go, last chance for him really to get the best possible payday. If he were younger I reckon ESI would make him an offer he couldn't turn down because his value would only increase but given the fact that he's 29 I can understand them perhaps not wanting to break the bank to keep him.0

Can't really argue with this approach.
Offered him a deal which sounds generous and like the max we can offer. Set a time limit so we know where we stand early in the window. I think it's not about money but about Taylor wanting a shot at the premier league as soon as next season.
We signed him on a free when he ran down his contract so he could make a step up. Can't really complain if he does the same to us.
If he does end up staying to the end of the season (and I really hope he does) I am sure we will see him giving everything to the club. I would expect nothing less from a man like him.7 - Sponsored links:

Lyle going is not great but in the words of Bowyer It is what it is. Players have always left Charlton and we move forward and look to build a better unit similar to When we sold Bowyer and then built a squad.
I like Lyle has done wonders for us and I will always thank him for that and he can leave with his held high.

Your agent tells you, you have been offered a 300% increase on your wage, you don't have to move away from your family, you don't have to move house but it might be best because some idiots may give you grief if you stay where you are. Now Brentford are not a glamour club but IF it was true what you heard, then it's an understandable reaction. You and I can give a month's notice, if our employer doesn't match the offer. ( Unlikely, no impossible unless you're a hedge fund manager ! )
For Charlton fans who complain our defense is "Shit" and League 1, (other than Phillips +Lockyer) then pay a Championship wage and see if that improves the situation.2 -

Anyone who thinks Lyle Taylor is a good enough to play in the Premier League is deluded but I can understand why he’d want to move to a Norwich or a Bournemouth.Let’s just let him go and move on. The club has done all they can do.7 -
Don’t think he will struggle passing a medical, pretty sure you can buy a player who is unfit and currently injured, the medical checks for underlying long term issues, I’m lead to believe.0
