Alwaysneil said:Lyle I reckon feeds off the buzz from us as fans. Today he didn’t get as much adulation and he won’t unless he signs a new contract. I hope we can get something to work for him as with him, Hemed and maybe someone else as well in, the crowd will bounce. He will do well to stay both financially (I hope) and he will perform at a higher standard with Charlton than with a move imo.Fingers crossed.2

The conditions at Swansea were also awful for players coming back from long term injury. When you aren't sure if your footing will stick.0

By the time Taylor had come on Williams had already given the Fulham defence something to think about and they were much more hurried in their clearances/passes, we were therefore able to play a bit higher up the pitch. Also the balls put into Taylor were much lower and he had the skill and mobility to make Hector look a much more average player than in the first half.
Agree with others, I hope we can sell to Lyle the idea of staying as he makes a real difference. I would imagine one of his big considerations is that his ‘window’ of being able to play in the Premier League is limited at his age. By joining one of the teams at the top of the Championship he is more likely to realise that dream.0 -
It's cause in sports some people just have a presence about them. Lyle definitely has that, most arrogant striker I've ever seen play for us and that's not a bad thing at all.
As said ESI should probably just break the bank, if he was let's say 23 with his current ability he would be worth 10 million at the very least, he is getting on yes but it's not like he is showing any signs of slowing down or will his age effect his playstyle too much imo. I would offer him some sort of package worth up to 2/3 million over 3 years with incentives/bonuses. We will not get a player as good as him for that price so I don't see why not. Anyone in the team has an issue I would just say tough, you ain't as good as him
These players like Lyle, Phillips, Lockyer, Doughty, Matthews, Bonne, Cullen top of my head are good enough to at the very least make us a consistent mid table championship side. Need to get them all on decent contracts6 -

Captain would be a lovely tip of the hat too.
Madness to even consider letting him leave.18 -

If Lyle stays (and keeps fit) we'll stay up easily, he's that good.7 -

Madness to even consider letting him leave.I dont know what the contract offer is. But if most of our players are going to be on circa 8k then we really can’t afford to offer more than double that.0 - Sponsored links:

Hope he knows the Scott Parker story as the 'one greedy bastard' song coincided with his warm up6

Give the bloke what ever he wants. Please.9

It would work out cheaper for ESI to pay him a decent amount then to go out and get a good enough replacement for him.I honestly think he will stay & sign a new deal.8

I don’t think he will sign a deal but advertise himself between now and the end of the season, which benefits us.
When he’s a free agent he’s free to speak to who he likes and see what deal he can get etc. He hasn’t had a fruitful career until the last few years so he will require a big contract as he approaches his 30s.0 - Sponsored links:

If we don’t offer an improved contract now and also turn down every transfer offer that comes from elsewhere, then we’d have Taylor for rest of the season at current wage. Is that possibly the plan of ESI? And then they’ll be in a position to replace him properly in the summer outside of January madness.0

That could well be the scenario that unfolds but replacing the talents of Taylor, when he's not only been the top scorer, penalty king, and best assists but the best wide man when he charges down the wing will be neigh on impossible.

Work on the summer will start on 1 February.
Avory, Euell, Bowyer and Gallen will look at the current U18, U23 and 1st team squad to see what we already have and from that what we need.
Gallen will start drawing up a list of players.
Well, at least that is what I hope and expect will happen.12 -
