I suspect that this is a trial.Sage said:
He was injured for a period of time so they sent him out to their second team to gain match sharpness. Different way of doing it, but essentially the same as playing for U23s here.se9addick said:
It literally does.Chunes said:
Where do you get that he was stuck in the reserves? Not from his Wikipedia.se9addick said:
I reckon you might be wrong on that one, I think Sarr & Pearce are at a higher level than a MLS sides reserve team.Chunes said:
How good do you have to be, to be better than Sarr & Pearce? It's not a high standard. Every chance he's better.LargeAddick said:
Ok, maybe journeyman the wrong choice of word, but his playing record isn’t exactly inspiring. One to improve the team and push us to the next level? I very much doubt it.Chunes said:
Blimey, at least Driesen went a bit further than judging a player on their Wikipedia!!LargeAddick said:
Looked on wiki, totally underwhelmed. A journeyman footballer if ever I saw one. Definitely not one who will improve the team in my opinion. And definitely not one who will push us on to the next level.Scoham said:

Clicked on one, saw he was 29, must be that one.
Went back and realised they’re twins.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florentin_Pogba
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathias_PogbaFlorentin is a defender playing in the MLS, must be him.
Mathias has played in England and Scotland but he’s a striker currently in the Spanish lower leagues.Sign all three brothers and we could have a spine of Pogba’s through the middle of the team.
He's had four clubs (not including a loan) and he's 29. I wouldn't call him a journeyman.
I trust in Gallen & Bowyer. Hardly failed us yet.
Anyway, I guess I have a bit more faith in our scouting structure and I'm excited to see him play. (If this is true.)
Don’t know enough about him but know he’s a left footed centre back who is quite strong. That’s pretty much about it.
As a free agent he could sign outside the window as Joe Ledley did. Hopefully he wouldn't be pitched straight in like the Welsh International as clearly he was unfit.
I would be disappointed if he was one of the 4/5 signings but a contract until the end of the season might be appropriate if he is good. It would be good to have another player who passes the height test as I often feel we are smaller than our opponents.0 -

Yeah! As well as the first team! In 2019 he played 13 first team games and 3 for the reserves.se9addick said:
Cool, but he was playing for their reserves this season, as per his Wiki page.Chunes said:Yeah. The only difference is their reserve side plays in a league where performances are recorded.
If it worked like that everywhere we'd be moaning every player had played in the reserves.
So it doesn't "literally" say he was rotting in the reserves0 -
On the POGBA story, isn’t Sarr one of his best mates so guess that where the link comes from. Brotherly love2

Lacazette and Umtiti... Sure he would know Pogba through them though0

How about we concentrate on staying up and worry about next season, nice and early in the summer ?Jamie19 said:

We can't afford complacency.
At least seven more wins are needed in my view, we won't get them only by signing players in this window, Bowyer has to continue to make demands.1 -
That’s why I’d rather they bring in 2-3 permanant signings,shine166 said:

Fed up of loaning players making them better and sending them back, that was all well and good whilst we had Roland as needs must but you’d like to think esi would do things a bit different.0 -

Interesting that three loans would take us to six loans in total, can't see this happening for a number of reasons, just speculating but is it possible Cullen could still be the permanent signing (even with West Ham extending his contract another year) which would free up another loan space to be able to bring in three more loans?Scoham said:https://www.londonnewsonline.co.uk/wait-for-lee-bowyer-to-pen-charlton-contract-is-over-now-its-over-to-esi-to-bring-in-the-reinforcements-needed-before-transfer-window-deadline/

Next season I hope we're less reliant on loans. Remember reading the other day Gallen said ideally we bring in 1 or 2 loans to top up the squad. Recently we've been bringing in 5 to ensure we're competing were we should be.Jamie19 said:

This season we just need to stay up. If loans give us the best players and value for money then that's what we need to go with. At least there's no risk of them being recalled.7 -
Rightly or wrongly, I expect Alfie Doughty is prob now seen as a full time graduate to the first team given the injury crisis and his form since he’s come in, so that may mean it wouldn’t be the end of the world were we not to get all the bodies in in midfield that we require
Of course I would like him to be given more time and eased in, but got a feeling he’ll be part of the squad for the run in and and get a few games6 -
Yeah that’s fair enough and I do get that point about staying up but I think another couple of signings will be enough regardless, totally agree with Gallen that 1/2 loans a season to just bulk up the squad is the way forward.Scoham said:

Exactly this. You only, realistically, get 2 years to build a team. After that if you haven't achieved your plan your better players start to leave and your lesser players (who haven't delivered) need replacing anyway.shine166 said:

As it stands we probably have 2 or 3 players under contract for next season that would considered first team players for a serious championship team. Then 5 or 6 that would be good squad players. You don't want to be clogging up the place with squad players, for a number of reasons.
Loans are vital, IMO, look at the quality you can bring in. No way could a championship side sign the likes of Abrahams, Mount, Gallagher, Bewster etc on permanent deals. You need that level of quality.2 -

Survive then rebuild is the right way to go!3 -
Yeah I'm sure we all would, but january is a bad time for prices, so you loan in for 3 months... stay up and then sell the playoffs and the 5 year plan to next years targets.Jamie19 said:

Because if you have six loans only 3 or 4 will be fit at any one time, Including march fit
In Cafc case this season only 1 or 2 will be fit !0 -
It's quite possible that he's just training with the club as a favour to someone? If not, and they're interested in him, I suspect it'll be for a good reason, as Gallen and Bowyer have shown they have an eye for a player.LargeAddick said:

Atlanta United FC was only set up in 2017 and has the highest average attendance (52,510) in the MLS, and an incredible stadium.
And for the second time it's the MLS’s most valuable team. The third-year franchise is valued at $500 million on Forbes’ annual list, up from $330 million last year.
None of that means the standard is massively high though.

This summer will see the serious rebuilding, but we've got to reach then as a Championship club, that's what matters now
Invariably a few out of contract players will leave, and while Pearce is under contract it wouldn't surprise me if he left for a nominal fee as well3 -
Leeds look like signing Jean-Kévin Augustin who is on loan to Monaco at the moment, from RB Leipzig with a view to a permanent move in the summer, good signing he would be for them.0
-
Thank the Lord it’s all done with by Friday.
Should be an interesting week.1 -
The last seven days of the window.
Seems more like a 10.000 metre race where nothing happens until last lap.
I have just heard the bell.3 -
